MK4 GOLF GTI FORGE DIVERTER VALVE INSTALL

In this video I install a Forge 008 recirculation valve to the Mk4 Golf Gti 1.8t Aum engine.
I wanted to install the Forge 008 because it was recommended by a few tuners for mapping as it allows adjustments and is a more reliable part compared to the OEM Bosch valve. I have also been made aware that the standard diverter valve is more than capable of handling the boost pressure of a highly tuned engine but I decided to fit it as personal preference.
It is a really quick and easy install with nice results in terms of sounds and aesthetics.

Dude that sounds really cool. I have a 2003 Seat Toledo 20VT (AUQ engine) I am planning to do a stage 2 remap and I think I need *this* valve and a new set of silicone hoses lol.

Hi Naz, awesome video, i had mine installed wrong way round, the flat side(short tube) facing boost line and i dnt get any boost dump at all. So I swapped around like yours and all fixed up.

I've never had a split valve before and it's my first turbocharged car so I havent had too much experience with them either. There are mixed reviews about everything but I like my forge recirculator.

@@SPOOLINUP I got the anniversary edition so most of the pipe are original. Changed pcv system but after a week it felt like the power dropped. Bought a new Recirc valve and think I made things worse. Just ordered boost leak tester and a N75 gonna try sort it this weekend. Honestly without you and MK4 heaven I would of crumbled

Double check your work, make sure that everything is plumbed in the right way. You would be surprised how easily you can make a mistake and not notice. I'm glad the videos have helped you and I hope they continue to. There is a lot of great information in old posts on the forums. If you need any diagrams or help you can always Google it and you will find great knowledge online.

Thanks a lot bro. Its a really clear difference to the noise inside especially but sounds so cool. Need to get someone else driving my car so I can hear it as it goes by. Some argue its not worth buying as the OEM one is good enough but I liked it so I got it. Facebook marketplace for second hand is good as well 👍🏽

Which spring would you recommend for a seat leon mk3 1.4fr. Current have a k and n shielded cold air intake, forge dump valve and silicone hose, turbo elbow pipe and a miltek resonated exhaust

Hey, I just kept the spring that comes installed in the DV. I asked the guy who mapped my car if I should change it, and he said it is fine as it it. You could probably get away with the weakest one in your car as the more boost the stiffer the spring you need.

Not at all mate, just make sure you have the correct spring for the boost your car is producing and you are all good.

Hi mate, I am pretty sure that you can just go ahead and use it with the spring it comes installed with. The PSI can be seen if you have a boost gauge fitted or have your car tuned and know what boost it is making. I asked my tuner and he said it doesn't really matter. Thats a very good question man, I have that too sometimes. I dont know whether that is a vacuum issue. I would start by searching on google to see what it comes up with on the forums. I cannot give you a straight answer unfortunately. Let me know if you sort it out 👍🏽

If you haven’t fixed your rev hang, Clutch switch (blue) on the clutch pedal assembly is most likely, and fixed my rev hang. No CEL present in my case

Hi, the different springs are rated for different amounts of boost so the springs will have different stiffness. You use what spring it recommends based on what boost you are running. Thanks

Hi mate, the Golf has a diverter valve and rather then dumping the boost to atmosphere like a BOV or dump valve would it recirculates the pressure. This is because the MAF has already made calculations for the air in the system.

Hey man, ive got the Forge 008 fitted and I think it makes more noise then the OEM Bosch valve. Are you doing this with windows closed or open? Also recenty due to issues with my car I've been swapping them over to diagnose it and still think the Forges gives a slightly louder whooshing sound. I also run the green spring with no map on the car at the moment. Not to tell you how to suck eggs but have you checked that all of the hoses are air tight?

You are welcome mate. Sometimes its difficult to hear the valve when I am driving with the windows open due to exhaust noise but with the windows closed I can hear it quite clearly. I remember when fitting the Forge 008 that it sounded a lot crisper as if it responded faster but again could be placebo.

If you read different forums online there are lots of things said about the DV. Some people say that the Bosch OEM one is the best and you shouldn't bother changing it unless you are running silly power, other people say you should because its adjustable with the springs to suit your map. The OEM DV uses a diaphragm which can eventually split causing running issues but the Forge uses a metal piston. If your old DV was faulty then you would definitely notice the difference but I cant remember if I did. You can test the OEM DV and check. 👍🏽

I follow the guy who tuned my car and he always posts issues that he finds with people's cars before he maps them. Many people have the DV and N75 plumbed in the wrong way, it's common.

@@SPOOLINUP iv dropped my golf off with Phil at mallory performance in Leicester as mines an older AGU it needs the older tuning style applied as its not plug in and tune he uses an emulator I have a mambatek 9-7 extreme 4660 k04 and I left it with him it still made boost but I hope it didn't damage anything I ran perfectly but I'm sure Phil knows iv been a twat and redirect it where it needs to be

@@SPOOLINUP I did put my n75 the wrong way once but its impossible now as I have a 3 inch tip all the way to the turbo and that was harder to fit than the turbos I had to redirect coolant hard lines to get it to fit

In this case it comes from the diverter valve, having a blow off valve on these 1.8t engines is not recommended.

I have read and been told previously that you need a recirculation valve as it keeps air in the system that has already been accounted for by the mass air flow sensor. The car uses this amount of air measured by the mass air flow sensor to calculate how much fuel is needed etc. If you dump this air to atmosphere and the car has already accounted for it then it knocks these calculations out. I know people do still fit blow off or dump valves to these cars but it isn't recommended. Hope that makes sense.

Hey, when you have the vacuum hose on top disconnected it will flutter. I did that to prove a point and I connected it up after 😊
