You can't do much to adjust camber, castor or toe on our rear solid beams without dropping money on a camber plate, then other supporting mods. Camber/Toe shims can be a quick and cheap alternative to correcting your rear alignment or even add some camber if you want. The links to the parts you need are...

What are the advantages of adding rear negative camber on a mk4 golf? Did you feel any difference in driving? Handling ?

I didn’t add significant camber. All I did was brought my alignment to spec. Nothing really show worthy or else I would’ve

*ATTENTION*: For removing the caliper - Just keep it on the brake pads 'til you've removed the bracket then rest it behind the assembly so it's NOT hanging. They are hardlines though you still want to take preventative measures if you can.

Thanks for the video! My Mk4 Jetta is lifted, so the rear is way out of spec. I had considered doing getting shims, but I didn't really understand them. If I give my alignment specs to SPC, could they tell me what I need? Also in Connecticut! Litchfield area

Hello Thomas. I'm not sure if you'll get a reply from spc about your specs though you can try. I will explain this...Our MK4 VWs alignment specs are altered fro a bunch of things like suspension and weight but our ideal specs (rear) are as followed... Camber should be anywhere between -1.1 to -1.8 and our toes should be between -0.17 to +0.50. So for eample, lets say that your Camber is at -0.8, right? Then I would buy a -0.50 camber shim (link indescription) to bring that original -0.8 camber up to a -1.3 camber which is the ideal factor spec(although your spec can fall anywhere between -1.1 to -1.8 and it will still be in the 'green zone' on the alignment sheet, which means in spec). If you have a -2.5 camber, buy a +1.0 degree camber to bring the spec to -1.5 degrees. It's still in spec. Same principle applies to toe. Just check your specs and then do the math to calculate how much you need to bring it positive or negative. If you're still having issues understanding, reply with your current spec and i can try to guide you to what shims you should purchase. Also if you're willing to take a drive I can install them for you for a fee.

@@thericochannel3093 hey thanks! I’m currently replacing all my front end bushings and struts, then it’s off to get the front end aligned. I’ll post the results. What part of CT are you in?

Great vid. I have a 2003 Jetta 2.0 and I need to correct my rear driver side with camber shims. It is at -2.3 degrees camber and the right side camber is within spec at -1.5 degrees. Does that mean I need to go about +1 degree of camber on the driver side? Also, my suspension is all stock with no lowering. And will I need the caliper shims as well? Thanks so much.

Thanks for watching. If your camber on rear driver is -2.3 & right side is -1.5 I’d get the +.50 degree camber shim to make it -1.8degree which on the alignment sheet would be the most you can go while keeping it in ideal spec. It is where I’m at now. My driver rear is -1.6 & passenger is -1.8. You might not need the washers as it’ll only be a +.50 degree difference. My -1.0 degree camber was enough to bind the rotors. You can also experiment with a (thin 1mm) washer from a hardware store because $20 for shims are overpriced lol

@@thericochannel3093 I have 2 more questions. Can I find a 16mm spanner wrench at an auto or hardware store? Also, I am still unclear where to put the washers when installing the caliper.
