On the stock clutch, yes. But if you shift at the right points and understand where your power and is you can avoid the clutch slip. Though I personally recommend a stronger clutch. DKM makes an excellent stage 2 kit.

Hello Ian, I Was wondering...Will this tune do anything for the stock horn? I want my horn to sound louder...I heard it could get peak decibels to about 1,000? which is as loud as about 10 Boeing 747's.

@@KC-lg8qf it’s been 4 years already and still running on maperformance stage 2 flash. No regrets, car is running fine. Btw I added a Maperformance downpipe with a Cobb catback couple months later and still rocking it with no problem in 2021. 👍🏽

Ian, Getting the Cobb AP this upcoming week and after watching your video's/reading reviews i'll probably be purchasing this tune as well. Two quick questions for you, having never owned an AP: - Does switching between "sport mode" and "normal mode" on the MK7 have any effect on the tune? - ASIDE from the potential clutch issues, are there any other reliability concerns with this tune?

Super good question! Switching between Sport and Normal modes will adjust the steering and suspension as well as throttle response. The car will respond more quickly but will not change the actual tune - if that makes sense. Reminder, the tune is free if you buy the accessport from us! Finally, no reliability concerns on either of the aftermarket tunes: Cobb or MAP!

Hey I had a question. So I have a 2017 VW GTI 6 speed manual and I noticed that you said that this tune can only work with stock parts only. Is there anyway if I purchase a Cobb accessport from you guys that you guys would be able to calibrate a tune to work well my IE Intake and AWE Catback exhaust w/stock downpipe??? Got my AP from you guys a few months ago and the power increase with your map is great! Drives really well! I have noticed that on hard pulls my knock readings are in the mid 3s to low 4s. Is that something I should have you take a look at? Also, I saw that Cobb has released a DSG tune! Should I buy their map or wait for you guys to do a MAPerformance version?

Yes, honestly, this could cause a stock clutch to slip. I would recommend one on any tune for these cars to be completely honest.

Stronger? Absolutely. 10 fold. Also, these are FWD, not AWD like the WRX. So there is less drivetrain loss involved.

I just got 288 & 341 today in Vegas @66 degrees. 91 Octane and an AEM intake. I went to RTM Performance and had a blast! I was dissapointed with the numbers I put up, however, my clutch hasnt slipped once and I have a downpipe I've been wanting to install. I think I'll be able to put it in now and survive for a bit. Also, the power curve and torque curve looked better than most out there, but it wasn't smooth by any means. 280 ft lbs at 2500 Rpm (golf r has 280 at 1800 rpm) and 288 (1st run and went down a couple HP with each successive run as it normally could do with stock intercooler) at 5700 rpm. I'm not sure which gear Ales ran it in or anything. Not knocking MA at all! Just giving real feedback and would recommend anyone to buy this tune with the accessport before going with APR. This route teaches us what tuning even looks like and doesn't require us to go back and forth to our tuner (and get charged) when we want to get things looked at. Its all in the accessport.

This GTI comes with the Performance Pack, so it will dyno about 10whp higher than a standard version. VW's numbers are also quite low from the factory so this is accurate!
