Baseball : that's a bare handed catch! Meanwhile cricket : that's a nice catch...
@JT295012 ай бұрын
A diving/marginal catch in baseball is a lot more risky, as the ball is not dead when you make the catch - runners can advance. If you miss a dive, you'll likely cost your team a run, and runs mean a lot more in baseball than cricket, errors are a lot more costly. In baseball, players will sacrifice an out, sometimes not even to score a run but simply to advance runners forward, especially if the game is close.. that sort of thing is unthinkable in cricket where runs aren't so much at a premium! So you see, it isn't so simple :) Both sports have their merits and neither sport is easy, or top class athletes wouldn't be paid millions to do it..

As an Englishman who likes Baseball but knows a fair amount of cricket, there's a lot of ignorance here on both sides... In Baseball, you expect to get someone out on every fair ball, whereas cricket is a sport that's a lot more about survival. Fielding then in both sports is very different, in cricket there isn't a worry about runners and making throws to bases, in baseball you don't have to think so much about the strategy of placement of defenders (although that's changed in recent years!). A baseball is hard, and is hit hard, and so is a cricket ball. There are so many subtle differences that nobody here seems to be thinking about.. a diving catch in baseball is a lot more risky, as the ball is not dead when you make the catch - runners can advance. Overall, if I had to nail my colours to the mast, I prefer baseball.. it's "cricket except it makes sense"! Cricket simply has nothing to compare to a bottom of the 9th, two outs, bases loaded type situation.. but Cricket does have some interesting things to enjoy too, so can't we all get along?
