The Mariners vs Yankees in 1995 has to be Dave Niehaus! Can’t believe that the one and true clip wasn’t used. For those who don’t know, there was a vote on whether to keep funding the team in Seattle. They had never made the playoffs up to this point. Winning this playoff series and going to the playoffs at all literally saved the Seattle Mariners franchise. This is without a doubt the most important play in Mariners history. Honestly, both ABC and Niehaus were fantastic in that entire series. That might be the best 5 game series for great broadcast clips for any baseball playoff ever. Between Dave, Musburger and Gary Throne, all had just tremendously classic calls and nailed them every time.

The other brilliant call that got missed was on the Yankees side. Don Mattingly’s homer, game 2. All those years with the Yanks and he’s finally in the playoffs. His only playoff. Of all the great games in old Yankee stadium, the fans still voted in game 2 to the final top 5 DVD. “And this one by Mattingly, aww hang on to the roof, goodbye home run!”
