I'm glad I was able to see him play earlier in that season. he reached first on a dropped 3rd strike. NO ONE predicted the slowest guy in the league would do THAT in his final year. Comerica Park and all us Tigers fans erupted because it was so cool to see him do that.

I am a Clevelander so I'm an Indians fan and I've missed Victor's presence at Progressive Field where he spent the first half of his career. He was such a good hitter. I've attended many games here in Cleveland against the Tigers since Victor began playing for them and SO many times I've heard Tribe fans yell to him things like, "We miss you here, Victor," and, "We still love you, Victor!" And every time, fans would clap their approval. I've never heard a Tribe fan say anything bad about Victor Martinez, even when he clobbered the ball against us. I was so glad when the Tribe held a ceremony for him when the Tigers were in Cleveland for Victor's last game here. He deserved it. It was very emotional for him so it clearly meant a lot to him. I hope he has a wonderful time in retirement.

This is so touching to me.. Im only 17 now, but for most of my life, I used to play with a friend who's little brother was on the same team as Victor Martinez's son. I was more shy at the time years ago, so i didnt really talk to him a lot. But he was good friends with my dad, and he gave me some tips on hitting. It was only a couple years that we knew him, around 5 years ago. I hadn't kept up with him at all.. So i searched him up now, wondering if he ever retired. And sure enough, he did last year.. He was always a big name to me during my early childhood. God bless Victor!

As a Detroit Tigers fan I love Victor Martinez he was my favorite player not named Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander and more seeing him retire without a World Series title makes me sad for him he is Hall of Famer to me but he will go in as a Cleveland Indian
