Chip Caray noting Matheny actually being in the "catcher's box" is hilarious to me as a Braves' fan. Many people may remember that the Atlanta Braves actually suspended Chip's dad, Skip Caray and also Pete Van Wieren after they continually noted live on-air on the TBS Superstation how far out of the "catcher's box" Javy Lopez was setting up. Their repeated attention to the situation got back to the umpires and the umpires actually gave an opposing runner first base after he noticed Lopez doing it again in the following game. I believe MLB fined Atlanta for not having a proper CB lined out, as well. The fans outcry actually got the suspension lifted after only two games if memory serves correctly.

Question, so is it against the rule for catcher to be off to the side like that but the pitcher still throws for the strike? Or is it just a bad idea? I get that if the catcher misses the catch, that ball is going wild. But can they not do that?

edbtzkhud I’m gonna say what the other person was too angry and insecure to articulate; You’re wrong. 2016 was by far the best team the Cubs have assembled in the modern era. They had the most wins of any Cub team since 1907, and featured guys like Rizzo, Baez, Contreras, Ross and others. 2003 team had...Sammy Sosa? Good player in his day, but people forget they barely limped into the playoffs that year.
