As a previous Coros fan, enthusiast, and user (Vertix 1) for all they have been able to do in such a short amount of time, I recently picked up the Garmin Enduro and wow! I am not a fan of the price but the detailed data + battery life + comfort is what has me swoon (as the kids say).

Totally agree Andy! Coros is doing some fantastic work. I love the fact that they recently backwards ported their mapping updates to the older watches. Class move. But the Enduo is a great watch. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

For a long time I hated watching comparison videos; especially when another product is compared to Garmin. It seemed every reviewer was always giving Garmin the edge. However, I’ve been using the Forerunner 945 for the last 4-5 months and I have to say there’s no one competing with Garmin. It’s not even a comparison. Lol now I laugh when I see reviewers comparing Suunto, Coros and Polar with Garmin. 🤣 Great video though!

Great Video! I've been testing out the Vertix 2 and comparing it to the Fenix 6x. Although the Fenix is superior, I just love the look of the Vertix 2. I also just like Coros as a company and enjoy supporting the underdog. Their CEO has even responded to comments I've had which is awesome.

100% agree. Lewis is such a cool person. I love how involved he is in every aspect of this. Are you going to post a video or a review of your comparison between the Vertix 2 and the Fenix 6x? @@mlegrand haha no! I am just someone who can't make up their mind on a watch. As far as comparing them I'd say there is no reason other then the look, dial knob or if you are a big wall climber to choose the Vertix 2 over the Fenix 6x. Or if you just like the idea of supporting a smaller company

KZbin SCIENCE TIME!! I know I cuddle my Garmin products before bed every night, but I have to admit... Coros is making a big splash... another year and these two companies will push each other to great developments and the differences out of existence. We should make one and put it in the description of this video but have the conversion chart be completely circular and nonsensical. 1 stick of butter = 4 thumbs up. 1 thumbs up = 3 four leaf clovers. 1 four leaf clover = 1 stick of butter. Thanks for watching this one Adam.

Saw this yesterday at school, but I cannot comment on school internet (lame). The scoring process was hysterical. Well done. What do real life battery numbers look like? Does the Coros, with no solar, keep pace with the Garmin? That would really be something. The HRV feature on the Coros, I recall you saying you have to intentionally test the number, does it render logical data, or does it give you a number out of 35.63 and that's your score? Which one, in your opinion, tracks preparedness the best? (say Garmin, say Garmin!) XOXO
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Which one tracks preparedness best? That's a hard metric to determine. without an absolute control variable. I'd say that Garmin's is easier in that you don't have to remember to take your HRV score each morning. The Coros does give you a readable score 0-100 on how ready you are for the day it's not giving you an actual HRV value. But in the end, I had to award that stick of butter to someone. Thanks for watching this one!

Just for the HR accuracy and look I'd go enduro as well. Both are much more than I need and also priced more than I'm willing to spend on a GPS watch though.
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, super pricey. The HR accuracy did seem a lot cleaner on the Enduro. I guess a BT chest strap would be an option for better HR data with the Coros. Still, I think a lot of people will enjoy this Vertix 2. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@jans83553 жыл бұрын
Considering that a wrist-sensor in general is pretty accurate I don't see how one would like to use a chest strap although having a $700 sportwatch.. On the Enduro I miss the Sapphire glas and maps. it's really a difficult decision. What comes closest to the Vertix2 might be the Garmin 6X Sapphire. Edit: I read some comments about the sapphire glas on the Garmins got scratches anyway.. For some reason.
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
@@jans8355 - I would say wrist based optical heart rate monitors are accurate depending on how they're used. If you're indoor biking, they're great. Running ok. Something like handball would be a mess. Chest straps are still going to be the gold standard for a while. I guess it all depends on how important accuracy is to the athlete. It might not be super important if you train based on power or some other metric.
@jans83553 жыл бұрын
@@mlegrand Yeah thank you. Also if some measure is calculated using data of the entire tracks these errornous sections might not play a role at all (It doesn't affect the average so much for example.).. Plus, as the sensor is able to deliver accurate output in general, it might be a bug that'll get fixed in the future. I have it both in front of me - the Enduro and the Vertix2 and almost sent the Vertix2 back because of the weaker HR sensor. I also find the design of the Enduro a bit better and it seems a tiny bit smaller on the wrist (unfortunately I have very small/thin wrists). But the lack of maps (+ all the imense helpful features that are relying on maps), the none-sapphire glas, the shorter battery live.. In conclusion I think i'll go with the Vertix2

Feel ashamed that I don't know the answer but.. is the Enduro in this video the 1st or 2nd generation?😅
@mlegrand Жыл бұрын
This is the first edition of the Enduro. The second one is a lot more full featured. My biggest thing is that it didn’t have mapping. This new one is basically a Fenix 7X with a bit longer battery life. I’ll eventually have a review of it here on this channel. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Coros Vertix 2 = 32Gb memory ( MAPS and MP3) > Garmin Enduro 64mb memory. The comparison is a bit out of place, especially since Vertix is the flagship brand of COROS, just like FENIX for Garmin. And it is Vertix 2 that should be comparable to Fenix 7 which is not on the market yet, and probably will not be there in 2021.
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын

Actually I think you chose the closest Garmin competitor to Vertix 2. Fenix 6 with it's navigation features is still one class above (even though Vertix 2 has mapping), and Forerunner 945 is still targeted at runners predominantly. The Enduro, on the other hand, was a watch dedicated to battery life, where Coros stands out. So Vertix 2 really should be compared to it.

How come no one is stating the fact that Coros battery life is 60 days basically without continuous HR monitoring? It takes your HR every 10 minutes. If you switch to 1s monitoring, the battery life goes down to 30 days so the same as my Fenix 6X :))
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Great point Clita! You're getting 30 days from your Fenix 6? That's actually really good. I think I typically see about 2 weeks. Yeah, I think heart rate frequency and screen refresh rates are good options to preserve battery life. I'd like to see manufactures lean into options like this more and then give us option to turn them off or adjust them. I can live without seeing the seconds hand on my watch if it doubles my battery life. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

That’s a good question bodgaard. The maps on the Coros aren’t that detailed but they’re better than no maps, which is what the Enduro has. I’d also look at the Garmin Fenix series watches. They have better mapping and there’s a rumor that the Fenix 7 will be announced soon. 🤷🏻♂️
