What UFC Fighters "Really" think about Tom Aspinall ?

Tom Aspinall becomes only the third British UFC title holder in history, after Michael Bisping (middleweight) and Leon Edwards (welterweight).
Tom Aspinall claimed the interim UFC heavyweight title on Saturday night, knocking out Sergei Pavlovich in the first round in New York City.
The main event of UFC 295 was due to see Jon Jones defend the heavyweight title against divisional great Stipe Miocic, but that bout was cancelled on two weeks’ notice after Jon Jones suffered an injury in training.
Jon Jones retaining the UFC heavyweight title, despite suffering a serious injury, has confused the interim champion Tom Aspinall.

Tom looks like the real deal but is in a terrible position at the moment. The UFC rightly or wrongly want their superfight to be for the HW belt, but the ages of the legends involved and the time it will take to get there with Jon’s injury are disastrous for Tom’s path in the short term.

Dunno about new breed there was a lot of fast heavyweights before brock. Brock changed the game people wanted to get bigger to defend against that threat but now that’s gone it’s open for lighter guys.

They called Cyril Gane a "new breed of heavyweight" also.... Jon Jones came back from a 3 year layoff, humiliated Cyril and we haven't heard his name since. Jones vs Aspinall is going to be a great fight. I just hope it's able to happen with both fighters being in their best health/shape. Never thought I'd say this... But Jones may end up being the underdog here.. If Jones is the favorite, I will probably put a huge chunk of cash on Aspinall! This kid is special!
@TheStraightestWhitest
@TheStraightestWhitest 4 ай бұрын
@@BigtimeJuicerEveryone who trained themselves knew Gane was losing that fight. He's got toddler grappling. Aspinall meanwhile isn't just a more dangerous grappler than Jon, he's vastly bigger and stronger too. Gane was lighter. Gane and Tom are both good strikers, but Gane is tailor made for Jones. He's got very little to threaten Jon with on the feet. There's no one punch to worry about, and his kicks are grinders, not knockout tools. And on the ground he's downright amateurish. Tom meanwhile could hang with top 10 grapplers and top 10 kickboxers both. And he's got more finishing power than any heavyweight in history. In fact it isn't even close.

British fighters get WAYYYY too much of a pump from the UFC. There's no way you can't see that they shove British fighters down everyone's throat and fast track them when they haven't earned it. Tom didn't earn the interim fight. He sure as fuck hasn't earned a Jon fight.

I don't think people realize how unusual his speed is. You can't learn that level of speed; it's something he was born with, and his genetic gifts should legitimately be studied by science. In America, he would have been a top level NFL football player. The NFL guys are 220 lbs in college, until they start making good money, then they suddenly go to 250 pounds of lean muscle. Tom is 260 pounds, while in USADA testing. I hope Dana can stop worrying about Jon Jones and put his energy into promoting Tom's career.

It is true that a lot of British fighters get overhyped because of the market here, Till and Pimblet immediately coming to mind. But Aspinal really is that good, which we found out the other weekend. To be fair, before that, the only top of the division guy he fought was Blades and we know how that went. Now he's fully convinced me, the hype is real ladies and gents.

You can make that argument about Aussie / NZ fighters too. These regions send their best and often the praise is deserved though even if only temporarily (ie. Till up until his loss streak). Are dagestani fighters overhyped too by this metric? Literally pick any cluster with a strong representation, there’s usually some merit for the hype.

I said it before the fight on a few different channels comment sections. Speed & timing nearly always beats power alone. In the case of Tom Aspinall he has immense power to go with that speed & timing which is the most dangerous of all fight recipes. Anyone can be beaten quickly with heavyweight combat, but i also believe that Tom wont lose for some time. I love Cyril Gane, moves brilliantly, superb fight IQ and is developing some real spite too! But Tom is the ultimate package. He has the lot! And is even quicker than Cyril i think. Long live the King!

The worst thing any athlete or celebrity can do is let their fame and fortune outweigh what they should value within themselves. Chael Sonnen took the UFC belt to a candlelit dinner, hoping to spark a romantic connection. They enjoyed a delightful meal. Swept away by the allure of the night, Sonnen escorted the championship belt to its home. At the doorstep, eager for a romantic finale and with a twinkle in his eyes, he mustered the courage to ask for a kiss. However, the belt, playing hard to get, hit Chael with a firm, "Let's just be friends." Adding to the complexity, the drunk and coked-up Jon Jones entered the scene, and the belt seemed more than willing to let Jon demonstrate his submission skills, allowing him inside the house. Despite being friendzoned by the UFC belt, Sonnen pleaded for entrance and the chance to watch. The belt, feeling a bit compassionate, allowed Chael to sit on a chair, quietly observing from the sidelines. So there Chael sat, in the corner of the bedroom, a hopeful spectator in his own romantic saga, watching Jon Jones smoothly submit the belt repeatedly. In an unexpected turn of events, Francis Ngannou and Anderson Silva joined the octagonal love affair. The UFC belt, feeling generous, invited them to showcase their ground-and-pound. After three intense, sweat-drenched hours, Chael Sonnen, still sitting in his spectator chair, couldn't resist his hopeful daydreams. He envisioned himself cleaning up the octagonal aftermath, realizing, with a salty taste in his mouth, this was the only way he could come close to the UFC belt.

Not taking anything away from Tom, but TBF wasn't Sergei also on only 2 weeks notice? Maybe with a full camp it wouldn't have been so one sided. I think he he'll be back for suure and scarier than ever. Maybe Sergei should fight Stipe and the winner fights Jones.

Tom is defo who I wanted Conor to be, Conor lost his mind in the process which he even admitted which would happen I seen in interview before he was mega rich. I think Tom is going to stay loyal to the soil, a great guy to look up to and an amazing fighter!

Night and day.. Conor is a knob in my opinion. Conor has rarely had respect for his opponents. Unlike Tom, always shows respect and stays humble.

I know right, he says he's scared, says he's taking extreme risks while calling Sergei the scariest HW vs Mcchicken thinking he can predict outcomes whilst getting flattened by anyone that isn't octagon ancient

Tom is a great fighter but he knows nothing about business, he will fight the winner of the Jones fight and if it’s Jones fight a rematch , all his fights are going to be big money fights if he keeps on winning

Jones doesn't want that fight hahahha lets be honest. Tommy aspinall is the most dangerous heavyweight I've ever seen. Far better than francis ever was. He is more well-rounded than anyone and it's just a fact.

I love how after 15 world championships undefeated people still doubt still Jon Jones. There will always be “another guy” waiting that can beat Jones after he beats the other one that was hyped up. Nobody will ever beat that human being ever. That guy is just different and he will always find a way to win…

This iterim title means nothing, it is for the 'wannabee champ' . After winning the interim belt, Cyril Gane was a hype that lot of people talked about until he got beaten by the real champ ( who stepped into the fight with a serious knee injury)
