We had to hate it. I was 12 and was a Nirvana/Green Day/Pumpkins fan. But at 38 I can look back on it fondly and legitimately say it was a classic and that it’s better and more heartfelt than 99% of the songs today 🙌🏻

“You have so many relationships in this life; Only one or two will last. You go through all the pain and strife, Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast. Oh, so hold on the ones who really care, In the end they'll be the only ones there. And when you get old and start losing your hair; Can you tell me who will still care.. Can you tell me who will still care?” Still amazes me every time I hear Mmmbop that the Hanson brothers wrote such deep lyrics at 16, 13 & 11

Unlike so many of the pop "artists" manufactured and marketed primarily for consumption by teenage girls, Hanson have always been a real rock 'n' roll band who play their own instruments and write their own original songs. Despite having continued to tour and release fantastic albums over the years since their "Mmmbop" days, the band does not receive as much exposure and publicity as they once did and still rightfully deserve because in order to maintain their artistic integrity they decided to part ways with the major record labels in the early 2000's. I am an adult male rock music fanatic (classic/indie/modern/progressive), and I am not embarrassed to admit that I have gone to see them perform live in concert multiple times since 2003. Every tour, they have consistently put on a great live show.

But 24 years later when life hit and I lost family members and people I love, this songs hits so damn hard and actually got me emotional. Whoever you are, always appreciate the people you have. @@ljuben5738I think the point of saying "say what you want" is due to the fact that most people who genuinely enjoyed them when they were popular were often made fun of. Now that we are all adults, people are finally talking about how talented they are and how of course they are why would anyone say otherwise?? You just weren't there. Same thing with James Blunt, who is scarily talented yet I remember countless times and people who bullied others or the singer himself. 2020 vision is easy to say "no one is disagreeing". But yeah actually, humans suck lol.
