Yep, either the float adjustment height, or a bad needle &/or seat... (try throwing the old float in a small pan of gasoline...)

I personally love the 317 and prefer the kt17 over the b43g but I've never actually seen this conversion in person. If I had to guess I think the carburetor just needs to be cleaned out and adjusted and or you have bad gas. It could also need a valve adjustment but I think it is fuel related. Just out of curiosity, do you ever plan to bring an original 317 into the shop? I'd love to see you fix one up.

Mr. Beeeef I have a 87 318 with a b43g onan why dose the battery go dead after I am done cutting my lawn? And the battery light stays on while I am cutting please help if you can

Sounds like you have a charging problem. Either your voltage regulator is not doing it’s job or your stator is kaput would be my guess the pto clutch on the old Deere’s is an electric clutch so the whole time you’re mowing it’s drawing power from your battery that isn’t being replenished by the charging system

Your ignition switch might be a little gummy & leaking voltage.

It sounds like you just need to adjust your carburetor.

So much gas sitting in the carburetor... Don't take the advice of an idiot, but I am curious about the possible presence of gas in the crankcase with the oil.

Absolutely there was tons of gas int he crankcase which creates a genuine concern that there was a good bit a wear to engine internals that occurred when it was running like that.

@@mmrbeef when the onan vacuum pulse fuel pump goes bad it will pump gas directly into the crankcase
