MN Free-Mo N WGH 2016 - N scale Cabride

This video was captured on the FreeMo N-scale layout, which appeared at the 2016 World's Greatest Hobby show, in St. Paul Minnesota. This layout featured modules from Minnesota Free-mo, and Free-mo Nebraska.
This cabride covers a full roundtrip on the full mainline, including four reversing loops. Service starts at Roseville Yard, through to Mountain Loop, Middle Loup, Info Loop, and back around the flyover at Roseville yard. The layout was configured in an H-shape, with reversing loops at all four ends. This configuration allowed for continuous dog-bone style operation suitable for train shows, as well as more traditional local and regional freight operating sessions to local industries.
The event was hosted February 5-7, 2016. The N-scale layout occupied a space roughly 40'x50', and took approximately 20 minutes to make a full circuit from end to end at moderate track speeds, non-stop. In practice, the runs typically took much longer, as we were regularly negotiating through meets and sidings.
Minnesota FreeMo operates both N-scale and HO-scale divisions, and participates in several shows annually.

I love model cab rides. Lots of interesting scenery and giants as big as mountains walking around. And something I noticed on this video is that the giants sometime just disappear without warning.

I am 56-year-old and have been a rail runer ever since the age of 5 and have had (N) & (HO) scale and still have them both running in my basement a (N) scale can fit in the palm of your hand these train's are (HO) Z scale is the smallest then N then HO then G, I like the bigger train's But cant afford to build one yet. so look at your train scales again. Hey Michael, this question comes up periodically on this video. It is N-scale. The camera was being pushed by four N-scale Fox Valley ES44ACs, tucked into one well of an N-scale Kato Maxi-III well car. The stack of jewel cases which appear at kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4C8aWNoj7CZp9k are for BLMA 89' flat cars, in N-scale.

I'm guessing that he had to stop the camera train, then backed up a ways and proceeded forward. The edit took place with a video cross-fade during the overlapping footage. If you time it correctly, the track and scenery appear seamless since they don't move, but the onlookers vanish, having moved away by the time the camera retraced its movement.

That's always the most jarring aspect of taking a cab ride...attention paid to detail and scale, the sound effects (especially here), and then Welcome to the Land of the Giants! If not that, then in and out of the plywood-lined "fiddle yards" beneath. I'm positive that sensation inspired at least one episode of The (original) Twilight Zone...and you know the one, I'm sure!
