@Rosebudlola10 ай бұрын
Tbf they were giving a majority of directions indirectly and politely. I am a teacher and most of the times I witness parents or fellow teachers encounter difficulties with children following directions it's because they are not using direct enough commands. More and more of these videos remind me of behaviour incidents with children, (although a disclaimer here, I think this woman is a good person going through a mental health crisis and likely addiction). "Let's go over here to your car" is a really polite way to gently guide the potentially hostile person to the car and could avoid an escalation. But it's not a direction. It is open to interpretation, if the conscious or subconscious mind bothers to take it in at all, it implies a huge amount of choice. A majority of the "directions" she supposedly "ignored" were like this and hard to interpret for someone not in their right frame of mind. It's a difficult balancing act as you have to be polite enough not to escalate things but direct enough to assertively tell them what needs to happen. I generally put myself in the direction also, but would use language of certainty. "We are going to your car now" and keep repeating it, in a kind tone, and even making jokes to make light of it, but showing seriousness but the assertion. Example of something I'd try with a kid (it may or may not work though!) Policeman: Come on, Danielle, we are going to your car... Danielle: Rambling gibberish Policeman: No, first we go to your car, then we...xyz Danielle: Gibberish. Policman: Danielle, come on, car, now. (Friendly tone still and start walking in that direction and taking about the "next" with her as it she's already walking next to you and keep saying her name to refocus her attention). Not saying any of that would work. I get the impression she has an awful lot of anxiety and maybe her brother and nephew have had their own run ins with police so she's worried about calling them also. Again, I don't see a bad person, just someone who needs help. Poor dog though.

Way to be blame a nonprofit animal shelter that only exists to help homeless pets and provide service to the community. People like you are why animal shelter workers have the highest suicide rate in the country. It’s an emotionally exhausting, hard job. They don’t withhold people’s pets just because they’ve been arrested. Half the country would have their pets seized. Then we would have millions more homeless pets and hundreds of thousands more euthanasias. Don’t blame an animal shelter.

@@Anna-tc6rz Animal abuse is a federal offense and this is considered animal abuse and dogs are taken away and abusers can get up to seven years in prison under the Animal Welfare Act. That is usually for a “stray hold”. I think special arrangements can be made for people who are incarcerated because depending on the length of incarceration they don’t have the ability to claim their animal. I highly doubt the shelter/humane society would wait 3 months for an owner to make bond though. The shelter I volunteer at has had police bring in animals of people who have been arrested, but from what I remember all of the owners have returned shortly. What saddens me though is the animals we get from cruelty/neglect cases. Those are sad!

Even her BAC wasn’t high enough to explain her behaviour. Standing in the street and treason. Weather is not normal. None of her behaviour was normal. That’s how you’re supposed to treat them mentally ill. She hadn’t been behind the wheel when they found her. She had been committing a crime when they found her. They were concerned about her well-being. There’s a difference. Being outside is not a crime.

@@ducewags I was just going by what they said in the video about her charges and how she was to be punished. Other than that, I knew nothing about what happened. If she crashed into someone later, then it was the court system that failed to get her off the streets, not me.

My god - she’s stuck between lying, dodging, acting and not remembering (short term memory loss due to long term intoxication) and cannot even fathom how much harm she’s capable of inflicting… which makes her a real danger to anyone in her orbit. If she’d not run out of gas she could have easily killed someone. We’re all in this together and with the lack of resources - mental health and rehab - we really do have to take care of ourselves while also not enabling people like her. It’s a brutal dilemma.

I guess I should've finished the video before commenting. On that last point 100% that's why they dismissed it. No jury would find her guilty.

I can believe that alcohol and/or drugs has damaged her brain but standing in a well-lit area looking at a car, she's not even sure if it's hers or not? BS!!! If she was that far gone, she'd be in a dementia ward somewhere and need a nurse to lead her to the cafeteria everyday.
@Trouble-Clef10 ай бұрын
@@Skank_and_Gutterboy And you’ve obviously never dealt with the mentally ill. That’s exactly what it looks like. She wasn’t committing any crime when they came across her. The police officer recognized there was a problem, and that’s why he took the time that he did. They can’t even say she was OWI be a they don’t know when she parked her car. It could’ve been there for hours. That’s why the OWI charge was dropped. Anyone who’s ever dealt with the mentally ill wound recognize that this woman is sick. There’s a big difference between being belligerent and what you saw in this video. The officer really only wanted to get ahold of family and send her home because he understood there was a problem with her mentally. The fact that you can’t recognize it is just your own inexperience. When someone is suffering psychotic break, it does not take much to push them over the edge. That’s why they took their time with her. And that’s why he kept reassuring her about her dog. It’s really quite sad that people today can’t understand that the brain can be broken. Just like any part of your body can. Lay people of the 1950s understood a heck of a lot more than the people 2024. But I had a chuckle at your KZbin name lol. It’s definitely original lol

@@peggyd2352 I agree. One large symptom of a very-low IQ person is the inability to stop talking. This woman couldn't stop talking for 10 seconds in a row if there was a stack of $100 bills in it for her.
@Skank_and_Gutterboy10 ай бұрын
@@kdizzle901 Exactly. People get so bent on, "The cop was so nice and professional!" No, the cop was nice to the point of stupidity. It's like dealing with one of those sovereign-citizens where the cops beg them for 40 minutes to get out of the car and show a license. There's an appropriate time to stop being nice and say to your partner, "OK, this whole effort is pissing in the wind and we need to just take them in." It should've taken 3 minutes to reach that point, not 20. Whether it's an act or real, this woman is so scatter-brained that she's not going to do anything unless you make her. I'm all good with a cop being nice to a person who deserves it. This isn't one of those cases.

Dear Annie. I have a rescue dog that looks a lot like Annie. And the same calm, accepting demeanour. That stoicism is not natural. I don't know what he's been through before I adopted him. He immediately made friends with my cat (also adult adoptee). They play together and run zoomies. But outside my yard he puts up a stoic front. No fear-aggression, thank goodness. But a stoic front when strangers or kids pet him. He endures calmly.
