@Anthony Gist She accepted a deal based on "friendship" and what she thought was integrity from Lee Daniels. She clearly states that she did not accept the role for the money. She stated that clearly in the video. She later came to discover she was the only one with the integrity. Lee clearly had none and she is not the only one who discovered that about Lee Daniels..just ask Dame Dash about that. She was not complaining about the deal she made with Lee. She was referencing the ancillary experiences that had nothing to do with Lee's production company. She clearly does know her worth as she has a million dollar comedy act going on in Las Vegas now. She is in an industry that attempts to push a particular narrative about black men and women and she is choosing to push back for the sake of all the little black girls that will be coming after her...All indications would show that she has a firm knowledge of the industry she has chosen. Tiffany Haddish..plays to the stereotype that hollywood is pushing...she gets the cookies. Eddie Murphy...false equivalency..men in hollywood generally tend to get paid more than women..although white men make far more than any black actor by comparison. If you identify as a black man( foundational black american/descended from the killing fields of slavery) then you know what is occurring in Hollywood...if you do not identify as black (yup....you Mr. Gist) why do you care about any of what you chose to write about???? Enjoy your day..Troll..nice try though...

@Anthony Gist Mo'Nique said she had the best agents and mana9who were white and was told they can get you the best deals and when they would go to negotiate a deal so they would come back and tell her "well we tried and this is the best we could get and next time it will come". Next time come and she doesn't get it and then her husband has to intervene because his wife isn't getting good deals.

People do what they can get away with. They thought that she would eventually go away and their side of the story would go down as the truth. They didn't count on her sticking to what she believes and the black community rallying behind her. Same shit happened with Katt. They forget that the new generations grew up on these people and when these generations gain positions of power, they make their dreams a reality. Donald grew up on Katt, so when he got his show, he put one of his idols on it. Bad deeds can't be hidden forever and in the digital age, it's getting harder and harder to assassinate someone's character based on lies. It was easy to do this shit before news spread so fast and there was a recording of everything.

@apolo kabali It seems there is more to the story than what has been put. But all in all I still stand by her getting paid what an actor of her standing should have been getting paid. I also think there are a lot of underrated actors/artists out there who aren't fully credited for how they've worked so hard to be percieved and recieve what they've worked for to obtain. From what she's explained in this video it seems not only should she be credited for who she was then but it is also a race issue in the industry. It's unjust. Racism put aside, being an artist or actress, most and a lot of the time, are taken for granted as well and advantage of.

I want this black woman narrative to stop. The narrative implies black men are getting benefits that black women don't. That isn't true, black men are considered bottom barrel is almost everything. When we shout black women have it bad we are ignoring that all black people have it bad, and black men have it much worse. We need to stop dividing ourselves into groups that no one care about. Woman, gay, man, comedian real thespian or whatever. We dont get equality and wont get it by saying look at the injustice. What Monique did right this time around was not taking the deal. Monique was worth 50k for precious, because she took it. If you give an Oscar worthy stereotypical performance for 50k, then you are worth 50k, if you don't then, you aren't. Pretty simple.

But she’s been in movies since Precious including the movie her and her husband produced after precious called Blackbird. No she haven’t been in big budget films like some of her contemporaries but she has worked. That blacklisted stuff was also a little added for extra measure because of that shitty deal with Lee and her fallout with Oprah over her not promoting Precious. I want her to continue to do big major stuff to me to keep harping on this this is not helping her as she’s going forward.

By 2008 Mariah Carey's reputation as an actress was crap. All kinds of stupid demands on set, showing up 3-4 hours late, showing up under the influence, not learning her lines you name it.. here is a link to her pulling this crap even recently in 2017. www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/mariah-carey-infamous-diva-reputation-cost-cameo-article-1.3269716 but in 2008 Lee Daniels offered her a role letting her know he had almost no money to make the movie and would not tolerate any crap from her wasting his money or time and he would get somebody else if there was a problem. He told her you will take the money I offer you and like it. He is probably the only director that got her in line. And she is a multi-millionaire so she probably did not even care so much she just wanted a role.

She had no problem with the amount of the money, that's what she agreed to respectfully. The problem started when they wanted her to work for free to promote the film when it started to gross millions and millions! They should've offered to pay her, but they tried to play her.

Not my words But Malibu View words, Monique went from the governor's ball to government cheese. Her decisions have made her poor. Monique is basically broke. But if you think that is NOT reflective of knowing the business, that too is fine. Yes Monique has a Vegas gig. It is the best gig she has ever had being in the business over thirty years, and it is less than a 200 seat venue. Chitlin circuits range in that same size. Monique, at one time, was with IMG management, an A list agency. They let her go based on her behavior. Sidney took over and ran her career off a cliff. When he was on the phone with Netflix they hung the phone up on him. Sidney said managing Monique career was the same as selling socks. No one in the business likes, needs, or respect Sidney. He can't get Monique work and he won't work. Your idea of someone knowing the business differs. So be it.
