Moana Summary (2016) - An adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. Is it weird to compliment someone's eye shape? The crease in his eyes creates this natural winged eyeliner look, and I just think that's neat. Plus dark brown/black eyes are so underrated and gorgeous. :) I like how he takes time to pause the movies and give brief predictions or commentary. It's odd that you don't see that more often with "reactors," but it's honestly pretty rare. Most of them either talk over the movie or give 1-2 word reactions that don't mean much. And rewinding to rewatch/sing along to a part you liked? Unheard of, but not at all distracting. Makes it seem more genuine imo.

I always thought that in the end song with Moana and Te'Ka, that when Moana says, "They have stolen the heart from inside you," she's not just talking about Maui, but the people that he was getting the heart for. Specifically whichever ones he was talking about when he told Moana that they always wanted more. He gave them everything, and they still wanted the power to create life. So yes, in that sense, "they" did steal Te Fiti's heart. So who could blame her for turning into a wrathful lava monster when her own creation turned on her? She wouldn't trust anyone at that point, and without her heart, she wouldn't necessarily remember that other part of herself.

It always hits me when she sings, "I am Moana!" after seeing her grandma's spirit - especially as "Moana" means the ocean. 😊

When Grandma gives the heart to Moana, Moana runs off and then Grandma collapses like her life energy is gone...She knew that giving that to Moana would do that to her, but that's what any grandma would do. I bawl every time.

Maui Is like a combo of Loki and Eracles in polinesian mithologhy, so stuff like mischievous trapping people and heroicly defeating monsters are absolutly normal to him

Moana takes inspiration from my culture, Māori along with other pacifika cultures. I grew up with Maui's stories and legends. It was incredible seeing a brown skinned wāhine up on the screen for our little ones to see in a disney movie. I literally cried in the cinema first time i saw it. They recorded a Te Re Māori version and lots of the original cast reprised their role. Its amazing seeing this movie in Māori. Thanks for the amazing reaction again! You should watch Whale Rider, or BOY for more Aotearoa content! x

I know what you're talking about! I am from French Polynesia (Tahiti & islands) and I also grew up with polynesian legends. Our local airline company use Maui's hook as a symbol. We even have a tahitian version of Moana that it shows in schools to make children learn our language. Te Fiti is also inspired by one of french Polynesia's island Huahine which represents a lying pregnant woman. I'm so proud that the world could learn more about polynesian culture and its diversity🤗🤗🤗 It's a really great movie that makes me proud to be a part of this culture😍❤

One little detail I love is that Moana is very skilled when manning the fishing boats but doesn't know how to sail the open water boats. It's subtle but shows that she's not bad at sailing, her skills are just in a different area of it than what's needed.

this is my favorite Disney movie- beautiful songs, beautiful animation, great characters, I love everything about it. I saw it during a really horrible time in my life and it was one of those movies you watch every day because something about it gives you life.

Lmao I love singalong time! I’m usually trying to listen and see if the reactors are saying things during songs but since he took it back to singalong now I get to belt it out too 😹 Also, this is actually based on real islander voyagers who often sailed from their home to find new islands, adventures, trade, etc. it was a pretty elaborate real life system of ‘wayfinding’ that went on for centuries but had an unexplained period where they stopped voyaging for some reason so the movie actually explores a mystical theory of why they may have stopped wayfinding unexpectedly. Very cool premise

When Maui says "the ocean chose wrong" he's talking about himself. He thinks the ocean should have left him to die like his parents. He didn't have Grandma to help him along.

Moana has always had an emotional tie on me, my culture occupying only 1% of the population broadcasted for the whole world to see. ANDDD for it to be a independant minority woman in a position of leadership with historical ties gags me everytime. Te fiti in Te'Ka form are made out of lava and volcanic rock because she's THE FIRST ISLAND, She a volcano which is the origin of most of islands in Pacific. Now that's a good worldbuilding.

My Theory about Grandma Tala's death is that afrer Moana had dropped Tefiti's heart back into the ocean she found it and it sustained her life now that she had given it away she got sick. My Favourite Movie by Disney and I find the depiction of the Polynesian culture fascinating.❤

It's not an I want song at all "How Far I'll Go!" is all in future tense she never sings about the past which is what an I want songs focuses on.

I don't know who came up with that message but they were quite wrong about their statement. One of the line's literally says Someday, I'll go. (Moana promises to herself she'll see it through and that suggests the opposite of an I want song because it is directly literally telling us it will happen that Moana will make your own dreams come true.
