I’ve been watching this mobile home repair and I think to myself “what’s taking them so long to repair these floors”? Then on tonight’s episode, I can see the floor joists are just completely rotten along with the perimeter sill. No wonder its taking so long to repair! You are doing a complete repair of the floors and beams! Thank god for men like you that really repair the damage. If I lived nearby, you would surely be the man I would call to fix my home. Thank you and all the repairman out there!

I have tinnitus so I cannot tell whats being said . Are they replacing just the damaged piece of the rim joist ? How is one run of rim joist butted to the other? Are they just toe nailed to each other ( seems unlikely ) or is there a short piece of 2x6 sandwiched to the Rim joists joining them lying between the two nearest floor joists ?
@mgailfernandez8 ай бұрын
I'm having to do this But right nowI am having to replace the forward trim that sits on the metal frame, so I can start replacing the trim joists and the floor joist coming towards the back.

If just on floor joist end is bad for about a 1 or so, would that be ok to just double up new floor joists to the new section of rim joist? I'd hate to have to tear up more floor to get a more secure attachment for the new floor joist.
@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Жыл бұрын
Yes, I would probably just double up my floor Joyce that’s a good idea

I fix a lot of mobile homes . I live in West Virginia they are built fast on lines and there not built like stick built homes. People I fix there homes they will say why are they built this way. One they are weight restricted for being put on roads for delivery. So there design is for those reasons for one. The other is to get them built fast to send out to sale as fast built homes for people who rent home spaces so they can relocate them some were else if you want to. And are affordable then a lot of stick built homes. There good for there purpose.and all Homes stick built or these need repairs done over time. Nothing last forever.

Do all mobile homes have screws with the weird rectangular bit head? I can’t find a bit that will fit it and all of them I’ve tried making myself won’t work for very long lol…
@Drewsroofingandhomerepair2 жыл бұрын
They sell them at any hardware store. They sell them at any Lowe’s or Home Depot. It’s called a square bit
@JesusIsaFlatEarther Жыл бұрын
I found a square bit in an assortment of bits I had. I was taking down kitchen cabinets and it only worked on a third of them, and I had to sawzall the rest.

My question is this, “Can the walls be reinforced to support a heavier roof?
@Drewsroofingandhomerepair2 жыл бұрын
The roof will carry more then what I do. So no. You might want to make sure the walls are saported

I've never seen 2X4 floor joist's! Mine are 2X6's and run length wise, big PIA...
@Drewsroofingandhomerepair2 жыл бұрын
If they run lengthwise how do they support the outside edge
@Onry12 жыл бұрын
There are metal outriggers attached to the frame that hold (did hold) out side walls. They've started sagging and now my outside walls are dropping lower then the center of the floor...
@Drewsroofingandhomerepair2 жыл бұрын
You can fix that. You have the same thing as this 1. Except for the two by fours. You have 2x6 but yours are worse you need to build walls under your out side walls
@Onry12 жыл бұрын
Exactly! To provide support to the outside walls.
