A great idea just in time. I need a lathe stand and my old lath is about the same length. Only thing I'll do different is to make my top into a flip table. Then put my 12" disk sander and 18" belt sander on the other side for counter weights. Really like your leg design and it just so happens I have 3 yellow cedar 4"X4"X6''s and two and a half dry 2X4" studs in my workshop!...🤠 I'll get three of the dusty messy tools in one corner.

Started by planning the rough Cedar 4X4's already. Now a coffee break and then I'll do the same to the 2X4's. Will use 1X10's for the stringers because they will be closer to the bottom to allow the top to rotate and will need to stabilize the whole deal. I made a top a few months back for my Planner and Drum Sander because I never use them at the same time. May well use this leg design for that too. Thanks for the great idea.@@wholecirclehomestead2529

Thank you. I've been pondering how to make a simple stand for my lathe. It was on my small work bench but I want to be able to use that for other stuff. It's been on the floor for about 6 months. I have the materials to make a stand the same as you just did. I know what I'll do tomorrow :)

The lathe stand is made. I just have to make the tool drawer that will hang from under the lathe and cut up scrap ply or MDF for a small shelf to store my turning timber. I had a quick go on it. Nice to be wood turning again. It’s my favourite type of woodwork

@@tashapalmer4519 Nice. Turning is a lot of fun. I made a DIY video about some keep carbide tools I made for turning - kzbin.info/www/bejne/joeUf5VupLV5pJY

I like the stand very much. I do have a question though, I have the same lathe, the head stock pivots to be able to turn larger bowls and platters. Have you done this and if so how is the stability for turning?

Yes, it works well. The base is heavy so is very stable once on the ground. I also put the headstock over the leg to help with the weight and is still able to swivel for larger items.
