Vivica must be the most incredible amp I have ever heard on KZbin and anywhere else! I want one!!!

Eduardo Hamm thank you! She is amazing to play through. Can’t even capture that on the internet but my videos are the best I could do. Hearing it in person is the best experience I’ve ever heard

They all sound wonderful. What's the cab? Ampeg V-4? V-2? I think I see a hint of aluminum dome. Altec 417-B drivers?
@MOBontv Жыл бұрын
Yes, Amp V4 412. No dome, must be a reflection in the video. Those are 1968 014 celestion greenback 30's. They pair so well with the wrecks. Thanks for asking about it.

The difference here is the OT and aging of components. We need details on tube selection also. I think construction of the amplifier is not a difference. John can build a good amplifier. No question about it. Other variables are the overall interaction of parts. Vivaca is clearer. Marina is slightly warmer and Prudence is the warmest and with some lower midrange going. One thing is also the recorded demos and other being in the room. I don't know also what potentiometers were used in the new trainwrecks. Ken wasn't happy with the taper of the new pots vs. older ones. Luis.

These videos are incredible! Trainwreck amplifiers are my all time favorites. I’ve been playing guitar since I was a kid and even studied at a conservatory, played gigs, taught lessons for years before I had a real job and I heard a lot of different amps but none with the Overdrive capabilities of a Trainwreck. No need for any pedals. But I must be honest I would love to hear how pedals sound through these amazing amps just to see the sound it would produce. Especially a fuzz pedal! Would love to catch your band live. Let me know if you’re ever in Connecticut!

Ummm... pretty sure those close-ups at the beginning are power xformers? But that brings up an interesting point: where are the other transformers in these amps? Still need an output xformer, and I would have thought they would use a choke in the filter chain... Anyone? Bueller?
@MOBontv6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the transformer you're seeing in the pics is the Output. The mains transformer is behind it. hard to see from the pic but its there. Only the Rocket model has a visual choke. You should be able to see that in Episode 4. That video covers the Rocket and the Liverpool. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Heh. Yeah, after posting the question I spent a good part of my day reading Trainwreck forum posts to see what was going on there. Lots of info about old TW output xformers and lack of chokes. Great stuff and great info. Nice to see them being played in these clips, there are actually very few out there compared to, say, old Plexis or whatever. And those are some damn big OTPs!

for sure. I have a season 2 coming out with more wrecks and a real 1959 lea paul. Stay tuned!!

The attenuation is a fantastic option. TW owners and fans at large (I am definitely a fan) know these girls are LOUD! I humble request for a demo of the attenuation feature, though I am sure you have that lined up. Thank you Matt.

I'm assuming that it's a mini airbrake inside the amp.
@MOBontv7 жыл бұрын
as far as I know, yes. I don't have the amp anymore so it maybe tough to do one.

hahaha! still going on about pots and tubes and old and new! JM builds a GREAT amp. those who are still stuck in the past will just miss out. AGAIN!!!! I hear a difference. The same as i would hear between two 69 plexi's or two 57 twins or two teles or two anything. Matt! , JM just told me about this and Thanks for doing it. All the amps sound great. I have a Express ( second JM build Desiree) and a Trem Rocket "Wahine" Those amps are just incredible. Glad I'm getting to enjoy them instead of bitching about the past! steffen

Was there an original trainwreck in your demo?

yes, the first express ever made by Kenny

I love the tones! What I'd love even more, is to plug a couple of my vintage Strats into them and hear what they do! I have heard the demo with your '61 Strat, but the ones I'm talking about are the 1980 "STRAT" and a 1983 '57 Ri, that I have Peter Florance ST-60 Pickups installed in it. Those are my two favorites. Keep Rockin' Dude!\m/

thanks man! Love Peter Florance

I do too! Except I don't have any guitars with them. I'll see what I can do next time around. Thanks for watching

Maybe it's the guitar,,,maybe its the amps but i can't recall anything that had the dynamic range of these amps. Probably the amps :). Maybe sentimental here but Prudence sounded sweeter right away..
@MOBontv7 жыл бұрын
All I can say is that in the room with them, they all feel the same for sure. The newer ones sounded a littler fresher as the components aren't from 1985. To me, Marina beat them all.
