Actually the HK33 is a 5.56 mm conversion of the G3 ( while it technically can be an MP5 since they all stem from the same family of weapons). And barrel weight does not and can not cause more damage, that solely depends on the caliber. Even if this is an Assault Rifle it would be an HK53 as it's too short to be a 33. Though as I can''t see the magazine I guess it's just an MP5.

A heavier barrel would just provide more precision to the firearm, not damage, damage is done soley on muzzle velocity and the caliber. Anyway, this is just a decked out MP5, with an EoTech and an M203 attached under the handguard, you can also see a glimpse of the magazine; It's still the 9mm Curved Mag. The Developer(s) sure did fuck up modding it, if anything, he could've replaced the Pulse rifle with a H&K G11 K2 if they were going for the real firearm route.

I can definitely see where the hate comes from. However, as someone who mods myself, I think it's quite harsh to get so angry over a mod. Modding is meant for creative freedom. Not to sell a product. However, if he demanded money from it then lash out with the hate. Sure, the dildos are weird, the sexualised pictures and models are misleading and controversial and the controls is probably god aweful. All this for a mod that entitles itself as "Cinematic Mod" makes it terribly misleading. But it's his mod. Don't like? Don't use. I have a lot of mods myself on some own games that people would probably not wanna use, but then again, that's not always the point. Just pointing out my thoughts. Half Life 2's graphics aren't even close to outdated really, and until about 2015 or they could still pretty much compete with modern games. These new textures and models don't look anything like the original game and are, for the most part, pretty bad. Resolution isn't everything. Not to mention the stolen and inappropriate soundtrack in replacement of Half Life 2's already amazing one, and the changes to sounds and gameplay. I understand the hate.

HL2's graphics are badly outdated when compared to games like Halo 3 onwards (2007+), FEAR (2004), Oblivion (2007), DOOM (2003), Crysis (2007), MoH Airborne, CoD 2 onwards, Bioshock, etc. HL2 graphics were great for its time in general, good polygon count, detail textures, and when it comes to character detail and facial animations the graphics were unmatched for a long time. However the source engine wasnt that great for shader/lighting graphics (which hugely affect the look of a game) even for its time and now its far, far outdated, the textures also have a tendency to look really grainy and flat, which even high texture mods can't fix since its because the engine has poor shader/texture technology. Oblivion literally looks better than HL2 in every single way possible and thats considering the render distance/level size in oblivion is much greater, and that game came out 3 years after.

Thing is, those mods you listed weren't trying to keep in touch with the canon and art style of Half-Life 2. If anything, Nightmare House 2 was meant to be a completely original story so i have no idea why the hell you even listed that. The cinematic mod on the other hand was building itself up as the "ultimate way to play Half-Life 2" or something like that. So if the mod is presenting itself as a better looking Half-Life 2, of course people are going to criticize it for messing with the canon and art style.

The most fun I ever had with HL2 was dicking with the weapon parameters. To name a few: - Increase the number of pellets per shotgun shell from 6 to 200. - Dial the pull distance and mass constraints on the gravity gun up to 11. - Boost the mass of crossbow bolts to 500 tonnes. I also bound a key to spawn a friendly turret at the crosshairs. It worked no matter how far away you were aiming. Blooping an angry Dyson into existence just behind a group of combine never gets old.

I played both, GMDX is so good it's not even a contest. Just looking at the "achievememts" list in Revision makes you certain they have no idea WHY Deus Ex is good and how to improve it with their mod. It's opposite to GMDX made by Deus Ex veteran and fan who know all mechanics, designs and read old project documents that were used during game development. He made a mod to make it better. I mean - that's why people use mods, in general but most of them have problems.

I'm currently doing my first GMDX run (just landed at the missile silo) and it has thrown plenty of surprises and good balance tweaks my way. Things like the AI having a better sense of when to run for the alarm or stand and shoot (often getting the attention of other guards) has made sneaking around a lot more interesting. Suppressive fire is also another good tweak that makes it harder to escape when things go wrong. I wonder if somebody could apply these updates to The Nameless Mod... So to be honest, I probably won't bother trying Revision just going by what I saw in the videos.

Always hated this mod. Improving a games visuals can be a nice and welcome change. But, I don't think the creator of this mod understands the finer details of this. He seems to think "improving visuals" means to dump as much shit into each scene as possible. It ruins the game's original atmosphere, and just makes it look... cluttered and ugly. Add in the horrible character models, their strange looking clothes... and the changed gunplay mechanics... The mod is simply not worth the download time.

I absolutely don't blame Fake Factory for giving up. I remember the insane backlash this mod got when It came out and I'm honestly shocked to see that hate continuing to this day. I mean look at the comment section, It's nothing but people asking for the mod to be burned. It's said that he couldn't take the criticism but I don't think death threats and constant harassment counts as criticism. The mod has a lot of problems and some flat out bizarre changes but he was listening to the feedback; This is proved by his complete overhaul of the installer which added a lot more customization for the models and textures. It's a shame because I think given more time and encouragement this mod really could of become one of the best. It was an interesting experience even with it's many flaws.

I find the community's reaction to the Cinematic Mod fascinating. If an equivalent mod had been made for just about any other game, it would not have the amount of backlash this mod did. Heck, I have already seen equivalent mods before that update the visuals and mess with the character models and gameplay in questionable ways in other games, and they tend to be very highly regarded by that game's community. It is very interesting to see.

Playing Half Life 2 Update at 4k is probably the best way to play. The visuals get a boost in the lighting and shadow department all the while preserving the original artstyle. Sure textures look muddy up close but overall the game still looks great.

The pulse rifle replacement is most likely an HK53. These are essentially upscaled MP5s chamered in 5.56mm (the same cartridge as an M16). No idea where the combine are finding all of these nice Cold War carbines, but good for them.
