Hey Mike! I watched this vid to the end..very cool man! I have had a model 24 for some months now and it rules...using it for live off the floor recordings and I'm very happy with it. cheers

Great job trying to explain these. I am saving your posting to review several times. I have the Model 12 and convinced my friend in another band to buy the Model 16. He needed more channels for his band. These units are really great in all the capabilities but "very" confusing. Thanks for trying to cut to the chase on this!! They should have had you in the board room (pun) when they were designing these and the nomenclature for all the controls. BTW!!! Thanks for not wasting our time showing us how to UNBOX the mixer. So many other so called tutorial videos wasted time showing how to unbox the mixer. I never got past that and deleted those vids by the time they got to open the carton. Jeezz, so unprofessional. You did a great job. Thanks.

MTR means Multi Track Recording in the Tascam eco system.

I think you are correct on this one. I found a "definition" of MTR in a DP-008ex Manual. That's how far down the rabbit hole I've gone to find the information!

Model 12 definitely the moat powerful of the bunch to integrate lots of things using computers and mobile thingies. Channel swapping can achieve a lot w that 9/10 thing. Nice units and a bit of head scratching.

The Model 12 was definitely designed to be used as a DAW controller! The other two have the ability to be used as multi-input user interfaces, but not to the extent of the Model 12.

PFL means Pre Fade Listen and is another name for solo or audition the selected channel.

Made it to the end! MTR is monitor in Tascam current lingo I thought? Still undecided but thank you...oh and Tascam have a new firmware for the 12 about to drop

From what I can recall, the Model 16 was the first one that came out and then later (like 6 months later) out came the 12 and 24. It is odd because you'd like that if they all "look" the same that they would be the same. Did you watch the entire video? It was long, even for me :)

Can these different models be connected together?

I don't think so, Maybe with the Model 12's because they are now more of a DAW controller which can also be used as a Mixer / Recorder. I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried it. Maybe the new 2400 will be able to do it.
