Christmas... Time to break out the model railway from its boxes and let it run a couple of rounds! Thus, at least a part of my collection got to moving again. Most of the models shown here are now 20 years or older.
The trains in the video are shown in rough chronological order:
Steam engine class 44 (Roco) with 1950s/60s freight train (Märklin/Roco)
Steam engine class 55 (Fleischmann) with commuter train comprised of "thunderbox" coaches (Roco)
Swiss "Crocodile" (Roco) with 1950s/60s freight train (Märklin/Roco)
Steam engine class 93 (Roco) with gravel train (Roco)
Diesel motor coach VT137/VS145 (Liliput)
Electric engine E69 (Märklin) + "Silverling" regional train (Fleischmann)
Steam engine Prussian class T3 (Fleischmann) + freight train with passenger service (Fleischmann/Roco)
Diesel engine V65 (Roco) + regional train comprised of pairs of reconstructed 3-axle coaches (Roco)
Electric engine E17 (Roco) / E10 "Box" + express coaches Group 29/35 (Roco)
Electric engine E18 (Roco) + express coaches Group 23 (Roco)
Ten-part Diesel motor coach V11.5 (Roco)
Electric engine E10 "Crease" + "skirt" express coaches "Loreley-Express" (Märklin)
Electric engine BR112 "Crease" + 26.4m coaches (Roco)
Diesel engine V100 (Märklin) / Electric engine BR141 (Roco) + reconstructed 4-axle coaches (Roco)
Electric BR103 (Roco) + "Interregio" long-distance express train (Roco)
Diesel engine BR216 (Märklin) / Electric engine BR140 + construction train (Roco/Märklin)
ÖBB 1044 (Roco) + "TUI Ferien-Express" charter train (Roco)
Electric motor coach BR420 S-Bahn Stuttgart (Roco)
These two trains each are about 4 meters (13ft.) long:
Electric engine BR150 (Roco) / BR194 (Märklin) + 1980s/90s freight train (Roco, Fleischmann, Märklin, Electroten)
ICE 1st generation fast passenger train, with equipment for Switzerland (Fleischmann)
And last but not least, the train that started it all, Christmas 1980:
Steam engine BR89 (Märklin Art.-Nr. 3000) + Sheet metal cars (Märklin Art.-Nr. 4000/4010)
The underlying system is Märklin analogue, as most of the engines are not equipped with a digital decoder.
Filmed on an iPhone and an old GoPro (for the engine driver's perspective)
