More road trip videos are better, towing or not. Of course the towing videos are great, but it’s cool to see any type of road trip videos. The out of spec crew does some long road trip videos and they are cool, but it’s cool to see a different perspective.

All Electric Family I saw the video where you met up with Kyle and it was before I had watch and I thought they were crazy. Tent camping! But then I ended up watching and got hooked on their road trip videos. Makes me jealous of all those trips. We haven’t been able to take as many as we normally do. I love driving and seeing new places.

Eric Roe Yes! It was super fun to meet up with Kyle and Alyssa! The timing worked out for us so we could make the connection...but they are crazy tent camping! 🤣 Their road trip videos are awesome! This year has been hard to get a lot of trips in. We usually travel more than we did this year, too.

All Electric Family same for us. We usually do a big trip in April and had planned to go to NC (from SoCal) to visit my parent. But with COVID that didn’t happen. We did get to go to Glacier for a week in September before Labor Day.

I’m not sure If the math is wrong but for your Joplin, MO leg you only traveled 122.7 miles and went through 73% of the battery or around 69KW of energy used. That would put you at 565Wh/Mi.

For the v3 charging speeds did you route using the car gps or a phone? If you use the car gps to route towards a super charger it will warm up or cool down the battery so you get the fastest speeds. Also the 250KW is only that high between like 10% and 20% state of charge. All 2020 Teslas should be able to charge at 250Kw by now if you're on the latest update.
@AllElectricFamily4 жыл бұрын
We used the cars GPS. We had a very low SOC so maybe that's why it struggled but was disappointed it didn't get higher. I believe Elon said cars built after June will get the increase in charging. Ours was built earlier then that. It's was fun to try and we will try again when we around a V3. Thanks for watching!
@cabomix4 жыл бұрын
@@AllElectricFamily I think what affected you the most was the high ambient temperature because it triggered a slowdown on charging speed. You used the wet rag to cool the handle later on with great results. I now do that my self. I guess you learned from Kyle from out of spec😁 like me. Whatever works!

I love your videos! You guys are living my dream of taking road trips with your Travel Trailer and Model X. I'm glad I came across your channel when you switched to the X a few months ago. I've been super into Tesla since I was around 6 or 7 and even was recommending the stock to my parents long before many knew about it (if only they had listened haha) and when they started making the X with the ability to tow a small travel trailer, it's just made me even more interested. We have a pop-up camper now and tow it with our Honda Odyssey - one benefit to that is a heck of a lot less range anxiety on road trips if towing with an EV! I've been looking for Tesla Towing videos since 2016, and I've only come across ones like the Edmunds Model X tow test. Your videos are the first I've seen from a practical point of view with a family actually using their X over the long term to take road trips. And it is neat to see videos of unladen road trips from a family's point of view as well. Thanks for the videos!
@AllElectricFamily4 жыл бұрын
🥰 You're the best! We are so glad you like the videos!! You're right--a gas vehicle is not going to give you range anxiety like an EV will. But, the adventure and fun of towing with a Tesla has been worth it! We hadn't seen many videos of others towing with an EV either, so we knew we had to share when we decided to make the switch to a Tesla! Thank you so much for watching!

wonderful family video! You guys did a wonderful job of displaying this I've been looking at several Tesla videos and this is one of the best! However it's kind of convinced me not to get a Tesla 😔...The problem with so many of these videos are on the road trips everything seems to be centered around charging!
@AllElectricFamily3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As far as the charging goes...we don’t FEEL like the trips are centered around charging when we are living it. That’s what people want to see, so we share all the charging and not all of the adventures. Sometimes looking for a destination (restaurant, activity, etc.) that has a charger is half the fun...you don’t NEED to charge, but you do just because they have a charger. On this trip charging was little more difficult because Branson doesn’t have a Supercharger, but it’s the only time we have had difficulty finding a good charger!

@AllElectricFamily4 жыл бұрын
It will be interesting because I do think it will decrease the towing alot but if a person got the higher range one like you, you can charge in the "low to middle" part of the battery and it will be faster then we have it with the Model X. We are learning a lot but do want an Electric Pickup with lots of range. We do have a lot fun charging, we just explore along the route.

Great video. Questions: 1- could you share the reasons you went for a seven-seat? 1- how’s the white color holding up during these road trips specially on the front bumper? 3- any critical advice you can give to a future model X buyer? Thanks again.
@AllElectricFamily4 жыл бұрын
We opted for the 7 seat because it gave us more flexibility with seating for the kids/dog: we could have space to seat someone in the 3rd row and give them some space or we could have all of the kids in the 2nd row and fold down the back for the dog. We had a 6 seater while ours was in for some warranty work and it was super nice for day to day, but as much as we travel with our dog we need the flexibility. As for critical advice-think through your searing options and what you really want out of the car. Same goes for performance options. And finally, know that it will probably go in for some sort of warranty work at some point, but Tesla does a great job of taking care of their cars! The white is doing well, but we did have an accident and had to have the front bumper replaced . 😖 You can see how that process went here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apTVqZdpjZx8eas.

When the battery is full, how many miles of range does your car state it should get? I’m deciding if it’s worth getting a 2020 long range plus vs a model Y 7 seater. We only have 2 kids. When you’re on the highway without traffic, what speed do you set your autopilot or fsd to?
