Thx. Got my Y in June and have 4K miles too. I have midnight silver and build wasn’t too bad. Tesla fixed the worst of them. I got a rattle on the passenger side and they fixed it. Love the car but with Covid maybe should have waited till 2021 to buy. Love the backup cameras as I back into garage everyday. Also love the SnapPlate. Cheers.

Tesla is all about delivery numbers now. I bought my model 3 back in 2019 and the paint was so bad - I tried to reject the delivery but the service center lied; said they’d take care of the paint defect and call me in 1 week. I patiently waited 3 months and never got a phone call. When I finally went to the service center to ask about the status of the paint correction - no one knew what I was talking about. I had to make a ruckus and finally they looked at my car. Would I buy another Tesla, probably not. I’d like to try out other EVs.

I traded in my M3 2019 to get the M3 2021. Quality got worse: rattles, misaligned windows, paint problems. It is really shameful the state in which they deliver cars to customers. Problem is SC later, you have to literally fight with them all the time.

You did bring out a valid point about a potential interference of 2 Tesla cars both having Homelink devices. If one car is leaving and the other arriving, the automatic Homelink functions could cause the garage doors to open/close unexpectedly. It'd be nice to have a voice command like "Press Homelink" to open/close the garage door on demand without using the built-in Homelink automation. As silly as it sounds, I wonder that's the reason Tesla doesn't include Homelink as standard equipment in 3/Y anymore?? I'm thinking to buy another Tesla for my wife. Maybe I won't order Homelink for her car.

I hate the road noise in my 2019 model 3 and now with just 7,000 miles, I have multiple rattles. I’m probably gonna end up selling it in a month or so.

@@pangaveli I’m past 12 months and I think I heard they only cover rattles for the first 12 months.
@coredumperror3 жыл бұрын
@@officialyasir rattles are covered for the entire bumper to bumper warranty. The problem is that they'll charge you a $200 deposit to come out and check for them, and if they can't confirm the rattle, you don't get that deposit refunded. But if your rattles are consistently reproducible, do go ahead and put in a service request. Sadly, mine aren't. >_

@@coredumperror slightly different experience here, Tesla charged me half hour of the labor rate to diagnose rattles that I complained about each time I brought it in for service (for other things). This was more than 12 months after I got my car though. I still have an annoying rattle from rear passenger side c pillar area :(

Thanks for your videos. Just took possession of my 2021 MY with 1 full year of supercharging as an end of year perk. I already have a 2018 model 3 that has 15k miles. Really like the model 3. Took a 1,600 mile trip in 2020 and had zero issues (except finding places to eat because of COVID). The model Y is everything I wanted as far as convenience and space. However, ROAD NOISE is driving me crazy. As soon as I drove out of the delivery lot I could hear the difference. I had 110 miles to drive home and listen to that constant annoying noise. Please find a solution to the road noise and post it before I loose more brain cells. Thanks.

Enjoyed the Model Y review - very candid and helpful. I could almost talk myself out of buying a Model Y, but there just isn't anything out there yet that is on a par with it, in spite of the fit and finish issues, service issues, etc. Sigh. Am looking forward to having my LR RWD Model Y (assuming they actually produce it). But if something else becomes available that is on a par with the Model Y before I get my car, I will probably buy it instead of the Model Y. Just. don't want to deal with the Tesla issues that you mention in the video and that many others affirm as well. Thanks for a great video.

Thanks! At least right now, access to Superchargers remains huge for me. The others are making progress, but nowhere near as good and widespread yet.

@@EveryAmp Yes, Supercharger network is a huge advantage. I drive a Bolt EV so the limiting affect of the charging network is quite evident. Thanks for your input!

Your theory about why Low regen was removed doesn't jive with how EPA tests are actually done, though. The EPA tests range based on the *default* settings in the car. So since Standard regen is the default, taking away Low has no effect whatsoever on range tests This is one reason that the Taycan's EPA range is so much shittier than its owners actually experience. It's default mode turns off regen completely, to make the car feel like an ICE. According to Scan My Tesla, about 22% of the kWh I've used during the life of my Model 3 have been gendered by regen, so losing that hurts range a LOT. All that said, I have no idea why they took Low regen away. It is quite baffling. My best guess is to cut down on people complaining about their car getting worse Wh/mi than it's rated for, because they turned off regen to make it act like a car they're familiar with, instead of just getting familiar with a car that has strong regen.

@LivingTesla for the wind noise try getting a rubber band for the roof glass, similar to what is available to model 3:s. At least for me on model 3, the whistle is provably caused by the gap between the glass elements.
@EveryAmp3 жыл бұрын
I tried one of those kits on my Model 3 and found no change: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHOrdX2bgsxsj80 But still on my Y, I used tape to smooth the seams between the glass and no change. Good thought though.

I guess Tesla still can't get their quality control right. I know it's frustrating because we shouldn't have to keep going back and forth to a Service Center, especially when they are usually hours away. And if the Service Center needs to keep your car I doubt Uber credits will cover a 2 hour drive home and 2 hours back to pickup the car. Tesla really needs to bring back loaner cars! And Tesla, it's not cool that you're screwing with the range ratings. But eating in the car....Noooo! lol

Our rear hatch does exactly the same thing as yours, we had it down to SB once and they were able to lessen the drag but it’s getting worse again. Yours resolved? FYI, we are down here in Pismo. Great videos and products as always!

Great video. I agree with you on customer service, with Tesla now being the most valuable car company in the world there is no reason their service should not be the best in the world, they really need to make that a priority along with what you were talking about on software updates. I also agree they need to really improve on real world range, looks like the new EV’s coming out are using better tech & being more accurate, Porsche & Mach E for example. Again great honest video! 👍🏼

Do you like the ride in model Y better then model 3? Or it about same ride quality. Let me know know,

It's different. The Y is slightly softer, but still not a great ride. It's not as soft as the Redwood Grand Touring suspension I have on the 3.

Disappointing to hear your experience was not any better than your Model 3 experience from years ago. Tesla fan boys will say Tesla quality has much improved but it’s all anecdotal and I’m not convinced. I’m afraid Tesla won’t pay serious attention to quality off the line as long as they can sell as many as they can make (which will be for quite a few years).
@EveryAmp3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. My experience this time was actually quite a bit worse even. It's not an excuse, but I did get an end of quarter car and really only accepted it because we needed to get our Model Y SnapPlate finalized. If not for that, I would have rejected it based on the paint issues.
@mikilambastein14493 жыл бұрын
I’m still not happy, you can see they still haven’t got a clue about making cars when there quality is all over the place.
