Thank you for putting all this in a series! I know this is going to be a resource that I refer to back again, over and over.

8:25 for the elbow plate, you can also create the half cylinder, apply a loop cut at its middle, and use a simple-deform modifier set to bend on the x axis (i think that's local x, if not, local y)

Thanks Richard. Thats really useful to know. Anything in particular that made this video stand out? Its always really handy to get feedback.

@ I meant to say ‘we see your best work in this series’ as it’s so clear with the work flow. The presentation of options and why you do it one way and not another (respectfully). Future proofing your decisions. Its beyond what I would try and make but it all makes sense and you make it attainable

These are a great resource as I am designing my own wargame and suck with humanoid armor, so I greatly appreciate these videos. The only question I have is if you plan to teach how to rig the armor where it can be reposed easily--that's the one thing I have had the most trouble with in the past when making stuff like mechs and other mechanical creatures.

Thanks so much. So (as often happens with videos in a series) the viewers tend to drop off as the series goes on for various reasons. I have just videoed the last in the series and it is up on the Patreon (dealing with the feet and commenting on some other aspects of 3D printing modelling) and I say at the end that as long as it gets 400 likes then I will do a video on rigging and then printing the model. Basically if I know there is enough interest I will be happy to but I don't want to waste time making content that isn't going to have much interest. I do have some rigging videos regardless here and I am going to do one on a armoured arm/leg as theres a technique I think is worth showing there. Here are the other videos: Rigging a mechanical arm and Inverse Kinematics: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpuqgJidZ7WCbrM Machin3 Tools Groups for “Rigging”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4OsfGWHbMeGqM0

@ArtisansofVaul Honestly, you should have many more than 400 likes on your videos. You are one of the few Blender channels I recommend to people looking into modeling and learning Blender. I will be checking out those two videos here shortly, if not, then in the morning (US Central time). Thanks again!

I’d just like to add to this, I’m very much interested in this video series but just haven’t had the time to watch it (as much as I’d like to!), as I want to follow along with you in blender to learn it. My point is just because they may not have lots of views now, doesn’t mean you will not in the future if the video has been made and is available, I’m sure there is a ton of people just like myself who want to learn but right now do not have the time. Keep up the great work, these videos have answered so many questions I have had for a very long time regarding certain aspects of designing and using blender, thanks so much! Basically please* make more videos 😁🙏

@oleww50 Thanks so much and totally understood. Either way I will have a bit on posing as I think it's a fun topic and really something I couldn't find for things with elbow/knee pads.

is this model good for game or should I do lower poly?
@ArtisansofVaulАй бұрын
This isn't really designed for game use if you need it to be all quads. It's more designed for 3D printing. But if you triangulate the mesh it should be OK, but as you have identified you'd want it lower poly than this.
