I have a co-worker who says he wants to stop drinking. I told him my experience, and how moderation will never work. He said that he's not willing to "never say never" when talking about taking alcohol, and other drugs. I told him it wouldn't work, but good luck. He's been to rehab several times, but refuses to let go of the crowd he likes to be around. What a shame!

When a friend of mine decided to stop drinking and address his issues (and save his life) another friend of ours would ask him "when are you going to start drinking again" he's stayed clean to this day 5 some yrs ,our other friend continued to abuse alcohol and eventually chose fentanyl and his life . Hardest life lesson to learn is sometimes you just can't help some people.

Thanks for the video Kevin. Did Habits V2. In three days I will be two years sober - yeah me. Tonight I will be at a bar watching a baseball game. Diet Coke and Nacho's for me --- beer for everyone else. I have fun at this bar because everyone is watching a game while they have some drinks. I wouldn't go every night but a couple of times a month isn't a trigger for me. I don't think me not drinking bothers them at all. I am not sure if I would like to go to a bar where everyone is just sitting around drinking. But in my experience that wouldn't be fun anyway. Onwards and upwards Kev.

I did it cold turkey I’m into my 3rd month alcohol free and your videos are my therapy thank you 🙏 I understand that who I used to drink with no longer invite me to socialise,it pissed me off at 1 st but now I see it as a blessing in disguise as it would end up a negative experience and people arguing then the next day not remembering what they said! I don’t miss that 👍🤣

@@Brummiebythesea I never really drank at all until I was in my mid thirties. But in 2010 , due to a personal matter. I'd drank practically every day. Functioned great until the blow out times with pals. Never opened a bottle unless I finished it. The vomiting, feeling crappy on them days, I just accepted! Absolutely crazy now thinking about it! You are doing absolutely amazing! The real pals, stick by you. The ones who don't, are not worthy of our precious time now X

If quitting is your ultimate goal, starting with moderation may help you achieve it. And even if you don’t plan to quit, you may find that you lose interest in alcohol after practicing moderation. If you have already relapsed, drinking in moderation it won't help you, especially if you were a heavy drinker. Don't be put off by the failure. Relapse is part of recovery! Stay strong everyone and keep fighting the monster! Thanks for sharing Kevin!👋❤

This one is most interesting Kevin. I am eternally grateful that my mind has made peace with abstinence to where I am comfortable in any circumstances with or without alcohol. The gentleman who believes otherwise simply isn't there yet. It's a thing and, as we know, takes time to set. I love my life as a teetotaller and I navigate every day in business and pleasure as a result of the work. I never, ever lose sight of what a gift this is, and how worth the wait is for such joyous liberation. Thanks again for all you do. It continues to amaze and inspire.

Alcohol has been a huge part of my life since I was 15....I still drink to excess but not to the same extent...it scares me to give up the life...the pub the lads the atmosphere...hand in hand with smoking & gambling....my job is stressful so I have been in the habit of using alcohol to decompress for years....my wife would always go to bed earlier than me so I would wait and drink a bottle of wine to decompress...I would still be up at 7am for work...so hard to see life without alcohol...all social activities here (Dublin) revolve around it....I have tried so hard to either give up or cut down a lot but always end up going back

My friend is a highly educted person. Well they're not that smart. I am only responsible for myself and it gave me more resolve to continue. My world has become very busy. Things that I am good at doing have ampted up work has come to me without my doing very much. I hid when I drank and now am out in the world . World is very big and amazing. I imagined this person going to a shaolin monestary to practice and learn from the monks for a few years. It popped in my head as this way of thinking is such complete opposite of the spiritual and physical warrior that a human has the potential to be. This would be a really great experiment. He would either completely transform or just molecularly dissolve into a billion bits. The world has truly been working to weaken humanity for so long though I do know theres young people who ,regardless of their upbringing, do not have such fear and conformity in their nature.

A way to look at this is a comparison with smoking. In the 60's, 2/3 of the population was addicted to cigarettes...everyone smoked and it was done everywhere without restriction. The minority who did not smoke had to sit in the fumes of those who did. Today, we all know smoking is unhealthy at any amount.....period. Someone who smokes just one cigarette is still seen as a 'smoker' by anyone who sees them and is often judged. Its unhealthy. Alcohol is just as unhealthy, but so much work is being done to hide that... I can see this guy telling you the exact same thing about smoking if we were in the 1960's. It is ridiculous today to think 'if I want to fit in then I have to smoke'. But at that time it would have made more sense. We are herd animals, we all want to fit in and not be cast out from the herd. Thanks Kevin for all you do.

Now I’ve noticed at work all the young people are vaping us older people, I’m 54 ,still smoke! Think that’s about fitting in aswel and the industry making so many flavours is pushing it on the teens! Never about health always about money the same with alcohol industry with flavoured ciders and gins vodkas never ending push on the people 👍

It's not the same as smoking, a few drinks twice a week does not harm someone but a few cigs does. Now, some people cannot keep it to a few drinks (myself incl) which leads to issues.

Entertaining the idea of moderation is not understanding the core problem. It's a denial mechanism. If you think that moderation might be manageable or an option, then you haven't figured it out yet. The light bulb hasn't come on. The understanding of what alcohol is, represents, and does "to" you negatively (no matter the amount) hasn't happened yet. Ask yourself this question ~~~~> What's better, a little cancer, or no cancer ? It's the same thing just substitute the word cancer for alcohol. Alcohol does as much for you as cancer does. That's the truth.
