I love my mClassic, in very specific cases. I've been using it for two weeks and it makes every Switch game I've tested look quite a bit better. I now actually dislike playing Switch on the TV without out it. The mClassic is absolutely NOT designed to work correctly on pixel art/old school 2D games. In my experience you get the best results from full 3D games running in 480p or 720p then upscaled to 1080p or higher. On an original Wii in progressive mode, the mClassic really shines. Keeping these caveats in mind, the mClassic was definitely worth the $70 I paid for it a while back during the campaign, but that current $100 price tag is a bit steep.

Came to say the same thing. Mine is connected to a hub that my PS3, Raspberry Pi, and Switch run through. Makes all of them look appreciably better.

I just finally got my Mega SD and it is incredible. I give it my highest recommendation as far as the unit, itself. The only negative I can say is how awful Terra Onion handled the launch as well as their terrible shipping method as well as the lack of shipping info they provide on their site. It'll take you 2 months to receive your unit and the entire time, your order status will just sit in "Paid" status with no update. The only way you can get order info is by spamming their forums or Twitter and even then, it takes days to get a response, and when you finally do get a response it's usually along the lines of "We're working on it". Absolutely abysmal customer service.
@Kohijin5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean moving your company to a tax oasis is one thing, but as soon as you find out you can only ship about 45 orders per day, you should ramp up the customer service with maximum transparency. It seems like my order from last month is stuck in Andorra's customs for over a week and I felt there was no information for me during the order process that an "express shipping" will take that long. When asking what is currently happening by mail, I only got a vague one-liner, which wasn't referring to any of the information they posted in their forums or on social media.
@TooBokoo5 жыл бұрын
And I don't even blame them for the slow shipping. I get that it's a small company. It is what it is. But, some kind of additional shipping info or disclaimer when ordering would've been nice. The Mega SD product page said "In stock" when I ordered, so I assumed I would order and it would ship out within, maybe, a week. I wasn't expecting next day shipping or anything insane. But, not only does it not ship out within a week, but there's zero additional info after you order. All you get is an order paid status and then you just sit and wait. You have to badger them on their forums or Twitter and then you just get a generic response. Then, randomly, you get a shipping notification like, 6 weeks later, and then wait an additional 2 weeks for it to show. LOL! Absolutely ridiculous when spending $250+ dollars on a product.

Again, for me it's not about the MClassic improving the image at all. It's about whether it looks better than just letting your display upscale the image, and whether it adds less lag than the display upscaling would add. That's what the reviews should be focusing on, not whether it's making it somehow look better. This could be especially useful on 4K displays, as they upscale 1080p much better than they do 480p. I'm quite surprised nobody talks about this.

That MClassic upscaler device could actually have some use if it simply upscales better than your HDTV itself does and with less lag. For this purpose it could actually have some pretty decent usage. They should have advertised it for this and not all that other needless processing it does. Is there a way to turn off all the processing aside for the upscaling? If so then this thing could have some promise for those that simply want better upscaling and less lag than what an HDTV can do on it's own. Someone should do a lag test on it to see if it adds any perceptible lag. If there is none then it actually very well could improve gameplay. It would pair really nicely with the RetroTink, especially on 4K HDTV's which usually don't upscale 480p very well. I'd really like to see a comparison shot of a 480p signal on a 4K HDTV with and without the MClassic.

But with that feature in the Mega SD now its possible to have one of the best games in the entire Sega Genesis library with one of the most rocking most grungiest badass soundtrack for a videogame ever.
