Modern Battlestar Galactica Eaglemoss Review

To me the new Galactica doesn't really have bad angles, at least with flight pods extended. She looks somewhat funny with them retracted. This may sound like heresy, but I do prefer her to the original Galactica (and I was aware of the original ship and show before watching the reboot) and to Pegasus as well. By the way, I think Vipers Mk1 and Mk2, they literally don't have a single bad angle.

I love all Battlestar Galactica, and this physical model looks better than the CG one used in much of the show I think. I always thought it was weird that there were almost no windows to help with scale, but they corrected that with the Pegasus 2.0. It looks more gray and detailed than the CG model which had kind of a weird orangish brown color and a lot of flat surfaces without a lot of detail. You can really tell it was modeled after an alligator, including that underbite section at the bottom the front that resembles a mouth. Gators in space! But any Battlestar Galactica material has been top-notch from the very beginning, considering time frames in which they were made, so I love it all! Thanks you guys for giving Battlestar plenty of love!

New Galactica from the side, the lower section of the front is like the mouth of an alligator, and only 2 pylons per side is meant to represent alligators legs. Battlestar Galactica was always modeled roughly after an alligator, and the new one rounded off a lot of edges, added the mouth feature at the front in the four legs that brought it a little closer to the animal. I also much prefer the original! They have Windows and they can see out , and that also helps with scale.

Looks like a slightly larger Titanium die cast. Is it much better? I'd be more interested in Blood and Chrome Galactica with armor, full armament, and open flight pod ends.

Is the Pegasus version larger in size as it was in the TV series? Might seriously consider getting these models if they are scaled correctly

I understand that you haven't seen the new series past season 2 but understand the storyline. Hopefully you get to it soon, there are some truly amazing storylines and images that surpass most theatrical release movies, and one particular sequence which I won't spoil over new Caprica that I often will quote as one of the most suspenseful and exciting sequences of any television show I have ever watched! Gives me spine tingles every time, even more so then the Cliffhanger of Best of Both Worlds. It's not a cliffhanger like that it's just one segment within an important show, but it was done so well that it is just a highlight I feel of all science fiction. Hopefully you won't get into the show as do you know who the plot doesn't kick into full gear until season 3. And if you have a chance to review some of the episodes on Captain Foley channel that would be great too!

Thanks for the review! However after seeing this, I must say that I think the Moebius Models version of BSG75 to be superior to this version. Not saying that yours is not quite nice but the Moebius version has moveable dorsal guns and the "museum" pod has a visible window closing that side and the serviceable pod is fully open with nice decal work. Thank for showing it off!

Agreed, I have the Moebius Galactica and Pegasus, they are far more detailed and larger. To be fair they are also a lot more expensive and the guns are more fragile.

this looks exactly like my Diamond Select Battlestar galactica ship. Only difference was the weight of the DS..its really heavy and came with a unique base

love the Galactica, seemed a little small and flat to me on first inspection but I've gotten used to it. Thought it would be as heavy as the Eaglemoss XL Voyager, but that's just a nitpick at this point. It's the most affordable model for me that I don't have to put together lol. My only problem now is whenever I pick the ship up I immediately start beat boxing All Along The Watchtower. FYI they are making a Pegasus and OG Galactica, I really shouldn't be as excited for those as much as I am. February brings us the Viper MK 7.

Love the bsg reviews the Galactica is one of my favorites but my only grip is that th ar t pods don't have the ability to retract. Unlike the large titanium series Galactica which I have. I'd love to see your thoughts on it and a comparison between the two. Feel better captain!

Bigger than expected, but not metallic, Im a bit disapointed...couldnt fit on my desk, ill take the Viper instead. I hope to find someday the Tos battlestar galactica in full lengh. I have only been able so far to watch the reboot and the TOS about the return on earth wich is a bit funny and weird at the same time.

The only Galactica I don't like is the 1980 series. Well the motorbikes were ok, but the acting was as wooden as a forest.
