he would be if he hadnt been praising rhystic study and mystic remora five years ago. at this point edh has beencorrupted beyond rcegnition and we kinda gotta just go with it. i dont like having to ask do you pay the 1 more than anyone else likes hearing it, but white needs good card draw to be viable and this is solidly in whites color pie.

@@casualbreloom That makes sense, though, because Tomer is very fun first and focused on cards that for him personally would make the game more fun. He probably also knew that Seth would talk about the power-houses in the set. Tomer isn't a cEDH player (which is why I love him) and I'm not surprised he focused on what he thought would add something cool to the format

@@nickatwork Except overall tomers list was undoubtedly more powerful lol. Rogavan is one of the strongest one drops ever, solitude and the whole cycle were absurdly pushed, and the saga land might be the best land printed since premodern magic. At the very least it is next to cavern of souls and nykthos even if you dont think it is comparable to strip mine or workshop. Seth had esper sentinel which is pretty insane in commander but nothing completely game breaking and the dauthi which is both pretty insanely but the other three are either well designed niche commanders or great filler eternalize witness.

surprised there is timeless witness in the list. best thing about it is, that others gonna buy this instead of e-witness. i agree with tomers take skullwinder > t-witness. skullwinder is truly underrated. modern horizons 2 is a real treat for commander players. looking forward to play with some of the new toys like academy manufactor, nykthos paragon, harmonic prodigy, tireless provisioner and many more.

I submitted a mono green storm deck a lil while ago, and with Aeve coming out, they're definitely going to be at the helm of the deck. You mentioned green not having traditional storm cards like rituals, but honestly, with just an enchantress card, the green land enchantments become cantrips. Throw in an arbor elf, and now you're positive on mana. Green also has the most broken storm card of all time, recycle, which even allows your lands to cantrip. Not only that, but it has abundance which allows you to fix your draws so that you don't run out of gas. You know what all those cards have in common? They're enchantments, so they synergize further with the enchantress plan, making green, actually an insanely good storm color.

Tomer's just mad cuz bad lol seriously tho, not being able to deal with a 1 toughness artifact creature tells a lot about your deckbuilding abilities... this card let's you draw, on average, 1 or 2 more cards per turn... In most of my MonoW or WR decks, cards such as Skullclamp are straight up better than Esper Sentinel. Tomer is just... noob. lol

If you have damage removal early you remove esper sentinel. If you have spot destruction early you probably also remove it unless you KNOW something scarier is coming. If you have a counterspell in hand you also probably counter this unless you know something worse is coming. If it hits the board and you’re playing spell heavy you probably slow down. If you’re playing creatures you ignore it, same goes for a deck that draws and goes off faster, same goes for heavier control decks or any deck with the ability to force hand discards etc etc. esper sentinel is only as good as people allow it to be in how they play commander. It wouldn’t really matter in almost any deck I’d be playing. Also it’s gotta be d-ow-thee right? Au sound is ow not oo

Tomer, you need turn "Comprehensive Rule 504". The deck where everyone draws on by their draw step only. It's Orzov. Spirit of the Labyrinth, Chains of Mephistopheles, Underworld Dreams. Who cares if their are 8 "pay x or they draw a card" effects on board.

When you're doubling your mana in green, planeswalkers that untap your mana will work as rituals. Like Garruk Wildspeaker and Nissa, Who Shakes the World. Your carddraw will not be Harmonize, it will be Return of the Wildspeaker, because your stuff will get massive. The Great Aurora approves of Aeve.

Lonis' activated ability is removal protection, when it's not summoning sick anymore. You can react to the Doom Blade by stealing something else.

honestly, Esper Sentinel is better than Mystic Remora in most playgroups, because you don't have to take off your turn 2 and 3 after you play it, you can just keep developing your board

I am totaly on point with you guys with the pushed powerlevels of cards like Dauthi Voidwalker. Why has this to be 2 mana for a 3/2. I think cards with good effects on them should not be undercosted. Also i am most hyped for Scion of Draco :-D

I just want to point out the Nylea storm deck for Aeve. Just replace Nylea with Aeve and put Nylea in the 99. Green really is good at pretty much everything, even things you wouldn't think it was otherwise lol

Because Esper Sentinel is only pay 1 and only for non-creatures, if it doesn't come down very early can just sequence their spells so they choose to cast their non-creature spells on turns when they can afford to pay the 1 and play creatures on turns when they cant. That choice to pay or dodge the tax while still casting a spell makes Sentinel weaker than Study or Remora.

46:20 The big issue with this guy is that his first ability is decidedly super fair (making something a cantrip costs 2 mana normally, so this just makes all creatures cantrip with layaway); the problem is the 2nd ability is just word salad. Imagine if they'd replaced the 2nd ability with "Clues you control have T: add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Use this mana only on creature spells or creature activated abilities." (and costed accordingly. I don't see why this isn't a 2/3 for 1GU, for example).

Chatterfang - I'm not sure I like this. Make no mistake, I like the "plus 1/1 squirrel" mechanic, but the "oh, and it's color identity is black" ability is super sloppy. Also, I'm not sure I like this being a squirrel; it's a warrior... but not a squirrel person? Also, it's 3/3 for some reason? Ugh. In any case, maybe I'll have some fun with this. But I have 2 GR, 1 GU, 1 GB, 1 mono G, and 1 GBU commander deck... so I'm not really excited at having to get 6th or 7th copies of certain (R)/(M) green staples to play squirrels. :/

first you where mad that white " was bad " because it didnt have good card draw. then wizards gave white good card draw. and now you are mad that the good white card draw is to good and shouldnt be a tax effect. i hate to break it to you tomer but white is the color of taxes. it sounds to me like you need to either git gud or admit to yourself and the world that you want to play commander with decks in the 3-5 range on the power scale. its ok if you like janky battlecruiser magic. but those of us who want to play in the 6-8 range are super excited for esper sentinel and will have it in every white deck from now until the end of time and we want it that way. aside from that you and seth and commander clash are a giant factor in this cards creation. mystic remora and rhystic study where both super cheap cards when commander clash. then you guys played them on camera for a year or so and and talk about how awesome they are everytime you cast one, and then they started to spike. with great power comes great responsibility. be careful what you say about magic cards on youtube you may not like the repercussions.

Edit : They apparently retconend that bit to the Pieces Surviving somehow, which means Memnarch never recovered his most powerful weapon..that Glissa only defeated due to a one time event and could have easily defeated her in the last book.

aeve is just bad, as is urza's saga. cool it can grab you a mana crypt or sol ring. on turn 3. leaving you fewer turn one drops since you only have colorless mana and it's a land that auto sacs itself. just not a fan.

Aeve - I hate this design. I wasn't a fan of "copies of creature spells become tokens", but if you're going to do creature storm... don't make it legendary. Ugh. Also, wish this was just "P+T = twice the number of oozes on the battlefield"; less book keeping please.
