Actually... I can't speak for Rudy, but I think he sees it like that. He has roughly 3600 patrons. Even if all of them were only $5, which they couldn't buy these boxes that's 18,000 a month. To get, and maintain that amount and hopefully increase you have to keep it up. Think of videos like these as advertising and maintaining a brand. Why do Coke and Pepsi advertise? Going by Socialblade he makes 1k to 18k or so via youtube alone. Patreon he probably clears easily 25k a month, and youtube maybe 10k. It should be clear by that alone why he does these box openings. Oh and some of that youtube revenue comes from the box openings so outside of patreon related videos that revenue is likely quite a bit lower than 10k. Basically, patreon box opening = more valuable use of time than any other type of video.

I am fine with his content be it opening boxes or talking about investing in or outside of MTG. As for it being pointless? I think I made a few very good points that most people are not aware of -- even long time viewers, and it was on topic with what I was replying to. As for Rudy opening their boxes? That's their choice. I personally like to open my own, but that's my choice and that is their choice. "It's also a cool fan service". Opening boxes I don't think is a service for fans, I mean unless someone is incapable of opening their own box, or it would be more difficult if they did it? I don't really see it as a service. The only way I could see it being a service would be more of you scratch my back I'll scratch yours as in shout outs, or saying x person bought this box they also have a youtube channel or other social media, etc and give that out.

Rudy's first Box was $260 at TCGP Market. Second box was $295. The box I opened on my channel is now sitting at $278 so it's not impossible. I've seen better luck with this set than most but you need to sell soon before they tank. These boxes are being printed and opened like crazy and singles won't maintain their value after the first week. If you're looking for singles, it's the best time to buy before the first three months or so runs out and the prices start inching up.

amazon had a deal on modern horizons + land station for $170 so I ordered one(and wound up with 3 by accident which I had to eventually pay for, but I ain't complaining), opened them all and got a four forces and two urzas including a foil of each, as well as like 25 horizon lands and a bunch of other stuff. what a good damn set, seriously, there's a ton of great cards.

Rudy, serious question. I bought a box from my LGS and the packs opened in that expected order. Well a week ago when I had been drinking, I also ordered a box from Amazon. Well, it came in today and when I opened it, the packs were in the usual order that you expect from standard packs. Why was this second box different? Have you or anyone come across one yet? The first box that opened as expect was NC9057 2. The 2nd box that opened like usual standard sets was SD 91271 5. I have no idea what these mean.

Rudy dont know if you or anyone here can answer me. I just opened some packs of Modern Horizons and the pack order was different from yours. My packs were organized like regular packs(rare/mythic/token/land in the back of pack) Dont think they seem tampered with as I pulled 3 mythics and 2 Horizon lands(total of 16 packs). But the card stock is bad. They are all cut bad. Do some distributors give a deal on misprinted product from wotc?

I opened my first box on Friday, was pretty much a God Box. It started strong, and had an amazing finish. first pack was a dud, then Sunbaked Canyon, and 3rd pack was force of negation. Once I got that it never really stopped. The grand finale in the last pack was a Foil urza and a regular eladamri's call. Final tally of the major hits for my box was a Full set of Horizon lands, Hogaak, Force of Negation, The first Sliver, Urza, mox tantalite and ranger of Eos, With A foil Forest, Urza, and foil Cabal therapist.
