I saw Morrissey and his band this week at Hammersmith Apollo, and Brendan Buckley is such a graceful, crisp drummer. I could tell that he played as an integrated member of the band, never showy, but always driving the songs. Excellent musician.

You do realize almost any drummer can play that 16th note hihat beat right?
@SceneOfRobots2 жыл бұрын
@@ericmsandoval Has nothing to do with being able to play 16th notes on hi hats.. It’s about his professionalism in working with the band mates, continually improving himself by studying his performance, his great communication skills and I’m sure his 16th note hi hats patterns are probably much cleaner than most (if that is what his boss/Morrissey or Shakira, etc wants him to play).

A TRUE artist who I can relate to and see plays for the passion with feel, playing for the song instead of himself.... As a drummer it's taken me years to to get it and appreciate what it takes to understand "LESS IS MORE" 😎😎🎼🥁🥁🥁🥁🎶
@johannjohann6523 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's good to not waste "notes". They are expensive. And need time to ring out and "breathe" to be heard. More notes do not turn a bad song into a good one. Just remember the number 1 thing regardless of what you play is to "sound good" doing it. Cymbals being a big focus that alot of drummers don't prioritize first, before the drums. Cause there are too many "decent" drums available at a decent price too that with the proper drumheads can sound good. Cymbals are still expensive (good ones), but the number 1 thing that helps create "your sound". That and more cowbell :)

Great video. Nice to explore Brendan’s drums and get an insight into the day in the life of a touring drummer. I have been a Smiths/Mozzer fan since I can remember. I always dreamt of playing drums for Morrissey. I have seen a few Smiths tribute acts too and I have always remarked that the drumming wasn’t accurate enough, or the fill was wrong or in the wrong place. Morrissey’s music is so dynamic, it’s no wonder he must be a joy to perform with. Brendan, keep up the good work - you’re blessed that you have this opportunity to work with one of the great song writers of the modern era. 👍🏼🥁

I have no respect for Mortisey anymore. I liked the Smiths for a long time and still totally like Johnny Marr because of his incredible song writing and playing skills. But I have no respect for Mortisey because during the Smiths' lawsuit he tried to take all of the drummer's money as well as the bass player. Morrissey is manipulative and a selfish traitor. Morrissey said he and Marr should get all the royalties because they wrote the songs. Of course Marr didn't go along with Morrissey on that because Marr has integrity and his band mates were/are still his friends. Morrisey wanted all of their $$ because he is too lazy to work. Since he lost the lawsuit, he now has to work which is why he still tours. So if you're his drummer make sure you watch Morrissey and don't let him snag your $$.
