You're right. Getting laid does not equal massive gain in confidence, I'm living proof of that. Confidence has ALWAYS been my main issue. I'm 27 and I'm still struggling with confidence to this day. But I'm at the final stages of not being confident at all. Very soon I'm going to start really trying and making breakthroughs left and right, I can feel it.

My confidence levels doesn't come from the outside, it's entirely internal. I don't think about what other people see when they look at me, I look at what I see. I don't judge what my life is based on what I think people do or should have, it's based on what I want in life. If it was the opposite, I would imagine it would be much easier to overcome. I can't get ahead in life, so I can't feel confident. Everything I do seems to only work temporarily, before I'm back to square one. I don't have a career or even a visible path to one. I don't have money, to start a business. I don't have expenses that are expendable, to save money to start a business or investments. I get by, but just barely, and that is the source of my lack of confidence constant depression. I am also a virgin that doesn't bother me, but the lack of relationships (friendly and romantically) does.

I agree with ModernHealthMonk. I think virginity is very actractive to men and women. And it should not be seen as a negative impact in your life. I mean it shouldnt control your life and shouldnt makes you less confident about yourself, quite the contrary. The thing is when youre getting older and you still havent met your partner then you feel in need to make a change. Work on selfesteem and confidence, love yourself, look after yourself, take care of your looks and health, get out of your room. Look at your whole self from a third perspective. Follow your hobbies and sports with others, shine and smile. I think waiting for the right partner is not important, because even with the "wrong" partner you can grow and make experience that can bring you further and consolidates you. Love can come and go, thats why its so precious. The love that stays forever is the love from your family.

Even seeing a picture of a pregnant 18 year old makes you mad. even if you get into relationship you get dumped immediately. it traumatizes a virgin badly and it makes a devastating attack to his life (not my first time getting through this) that destroyed my life. What kills you deeply is that she does not care about what she has done to you because you are a worthless virgin and she isn't. So she sees her level better than you, and right after dumping you she gets into another relationship and posts pictures to your face. Forgets her guilt and does not even stay alone just one month. You see these all and you ask yourself "i was less than that guy?" and this is you who ends up being alone while they are happy having sex and laughing at your miserable lonely fate and boring life lack of emotional adventure just like a robot. This is how painful life of a virgin is. you have to pretend you are happy, and strong so you don't seem like a loser. it's a big pain itself. people get dumped everyday but they don't feel as terrible as i do because they already got sex a lot. Myth: virgins are two types: those who can get sex but they choose to be virgin for whatever reason. and those who can't get sex and they have no other choice. But the fact is no body ever wants to be virgin by choice. This is the life forces someone be a virgin. You can't prohibit yourself from eating. Sex it's a need as important as food. The problem for me may be that I am not doing enough though. I have a good job, an apartment with no roomates in an urban area, living a pretty healthy life, but I dont go out enough. I usually go out once a week at nights and usually during the daytime I will go out a few times for dance classes, working out at the park, or meetups but rarely do I end up with a number. I feel like I should go out to more places to meet people but the problem is me and another friend have a side business we are trying to work on and we have barely any time to work on it during the weekday. This and the typical shit I need to do just to survive and be healthy is taking a good chunk of my energy and time. Now its not like i havent gotten ANY experience but I have gotten very little. Ive only gone on 6 dates with 3 women this year and only had sex twice in my life, both being horrible experiences. Love that you cover this topic. The idea that you "have to" lose your virginity as soon as possible, especially for boys, is so wrong. There are so many unhealthy believes about virginity and sexuality out there. (When you should lose your virginity, how many people have you slept with - too few, too many etc) Even I as a girl have felt the pressure from outside. But it is unhealthy to only do things/feel pressured into doing them only because other people do it and believe it's important. What has helped me is actually witnessing people speaking openly about being true to themselves, e.g. men saying without a hint of shame, they have lost their virginity at 30 - listening to other people who are confident in themselves and don't make it look bad to lose your virginity at whatever age you like.
