A key question would be: if you drastically reduce in your diet MTOR-boosting amino acids like leucine lysine arginine and methionine, BUT you eat a moderately high carb diet, would the amino acid deprivation blunt or limit MTOR’s response to the carbs?

Protein is a bit complex. It does drive up mTOR, but other foods raise it higher than protein. It's not so much protein itself as overeating of food in general. There are other factors to keep in mind. A high protein diet typically means one is eating low-carb, often ketogenic. And if ketogenic, the protein levels might be high compared to veganism and vegetarianism, but it's generally moderate levels. Also, low-carb in general and keto in particular reduces hunger, which means people often eat fewer meals and snack less. That is to say they're less likely to overeat and hence less likely to constantly spike their mTOR. Many people on keto and generally low-carb diets tend to do intermittent fasting, often OMAD. That means a large part of the time, even on relatvely high protein diets, is spent not eating protein or anything else. So, generally, most high protein diets end up elicting mTOR far less than most low protein diets. We want to push mTOR up real high on occasion. Then we want to drop it down low for periods of time. Both are necessary for maintaining optimal health. That is what relatively high protein diets make possible as typically combined with time restriced feeding and fasting, intermiittent and extended. benjamindavidsteele.wordpress.com/2019/09/17/high-vs-low-protein/ benjamindavidsteele.wordpress.com/2019/07/03/too-much-protein/

Thanks. Interesting video. Do you still take nmn/resveratrol? I'd so do you take resveratrol every day?

Hi Mark, thanks for your question. Yes, I still take both NMN and resveratrol. And I do take resveratrol everyday.

My autophagy plan :1 Low fat starch based whole food vegan diet no added sugar. 2 Metformin 1000mg at night. 2 Checked out the old ideal body weight calculators and get down to that weight. 3 I would like to intermittent fast but am on a reduced calorie diet and hoping that's comparable. 4 Lift weights while on the low protein diet. 6 Rapamycin 10 mg orally q 10 days

Theres is misconception that you fell for and that is thinking it would be a good idea to push autophagy every day. Don’t overdo it.
