Great presentation yet again Bob. Aurora wrote this after she read about the high rate of male suicide. She is the best at putting a positive spin on sensitive topics. The background vocals are a combination of Aurora and Silja (whose voice is slightly higher than Aurora's). Yet again, the depths she manages to go to in her lyrics are simply astonishing for any artist, let alone one so young. This song also opens the HAIK concert and sung in a forest it is stunning (as you have seen from doing "Daydreamer'). You must watch the HAIK documentary as, not only will you learn more about Aurora and her amazing personality but you will see how accurate some of the thoughts you have expressed about her are. You also picked the perfect time to do this reaction, as yesterday (15/6/2022) was Aurora's 26th birthday. Keep up the good work and I hope your birds settle down.

Hi Bob, this is another important topic that affects everyone. Cry. It's actually a sad topic, because if you cry, something bad has happened. But the music is so swinging and positive and strong. That doesn't fit the lyrics again. But we know that from AURORA. I noticed that with many of her songs, the lyrics and the music don't express the same thing. But this contrast makes the songs interesting, at least for me. The video expresses the struggle with oneself well. And when AURORA finally threw away the scissors and the tears were allowed to grow, they turned into very beautiful flowers. There is something liberating about tears and that is important and beautiful, like the flowers. Great imagery that AURORA (or whoever) is using here. AURORA had her 26th birthday yesterday. Congratulations AURORA. Quotes from AURORA: 1. Interviewer: That you recently turned 20 so you're not a teenager anymore. So, was that a significant part of your life kind of moving into your 20s? AURORA: Age doesn't have never really been a thing for me. Interviewer: It's just a number? AURORA: It's just a number and I've always felt much older and also much younger than I am. Interviewer: The contradiction. I love that. AURORA: Oh yeah, I just meet the people I meet and my friends are often a lot older than me and it doesn't really make any difference because people are just people and I am just another piece of people. 2. I didn't like school. I still don't like school. I think it's important to learn and I love learning stuff but I don't like school so much because it's not made for energetic weird children and I was a very energetic and weird child. Have a nice weekend and Greetings from Germany

Hey Olaf. Thankfully, there are good tears once in a while. I just made a Home Free reaction earlier today where I gave an example of exactly that. Like you, I love when certain aspects of a song are in contrast to each other. Personally, I never enjoyed school but did manage to squeak out a college degree. Not really using any of it, but at least it was an accomplishment.

Hello Bob. Look who just outdid himself! This was a crazy good reaction IMO. And not off base for a second I think. Great stuff. I'm later to the party than I normally am. My son got his diploma today. He just finished high school :-) Just came back after the celebration. BTW, have you ever considered having a snake ( as a pet I mean) ? They tend to be quiet. Allthough I kinda like it when you go to the basement for a break. It creates great reactions, obviously. Take care, Bob !

That bird story happened to me twice: When I was ~7-10 years old and we were sitting in the garden, a black bird landed on my mothers shoulder and she managed to not panic, and it let us catch it easily. We already had a parakeet and the bird was pretty big, I do not remember which kind of bird it was, but it was obviously someone's pet bird, so we called animal welfare and they picked it up. Hopefully they found it's original home or a new good home. Then 5-8 years later when the door was open to the same garden, there was a bird landing on the open door and then flew away into the garden. It turned out to be a parakeet and my mom managed to lure it with some food and grab it with her hand, because it was so hungry. We did not have a parakeet anymore so we kept this one and we had the old bird cage still, no one in the local area was missing it, and it lived for more than 10 years.

Wow, two bird stories! We tried to find the original owner of the bird, but nobody responded to anything. I'm thinking they didn't want them and just let them go. Very sad. Anyway, we were able to save one of them, so I feel good about that.

Remember the old days of American Bandstand? When they asked those who were there dancing to the music were asked how they liked the previous song, most of them gave the same answer: "It has a great beat and it's easy to dance to." Now days with all the music videos, it invites a myriad of reactions. It looked like Aurora was having such a good time making this video. Kudos to her for doing things her way! Loved both her singing and the video. I've been at the scene of a singer recording a video. And I know he, and I'm sure others go back to their studios to either record over what came through on the video or added harmonies to what was there. Thank you for another enjoyable video, Bob! And ask a veterinarian or bird specialist if they are missing something in their diet that might be causing their unwanted squawking. I didn't hear what kind of birds they are but maybe they want toys or a bigger cage? Or maybe some outdoor time in their cage. lol

Hi Janette. Yes, I've already spoken to several people about the birds (Budgies). The first person we spoke to after realizing they were going to be ours was a bird rescue. They gave me all kinds of advice and suggestions on what to do and how to properly take care of them. We did upgrade to a much larger cage. They now have 4 levels that they can fly up and down to. It's fun to watch them. Normally, they don't make that much noise...it must just have been one of those days! LOL. Yes! I remember American Bandstand. That was so cool for the time! If I remember right, it came on right after the Saturday morning cartoons. I think Soul Train may have followed it. Anyway, sorry for the rambling. Thanks once again for listening. I appreciate it!

Hey Bob. Great reaction to Aurora as always. I looked on the Aurora wiki regarding "The River", here's some of what I read. Quote; It talks about how letting our emotions out into the world proves that we are human and forms a part of what makes us human (being able to feel feelings and have emotions) and how sometimes letting them out can make you feel so much better afterward. End Quote. Yes the song totally related to that and Aurora delivers that message perfectly in her own unique way. Thsnks!

You need to play Aurora to your animals.... it is good for everybody... 😉 Be who you are, let people be who they are: this is the core of Aurora is my opinion.... She did this at the consert I was at yesterday, a girl was crying a lot, and Aurora noticed it at the end of the song, and she "gave her a sign", the girl was so happy!

Great reaction as always 🤗 Wow, it’s amazing that you caught one of the birds, I love that❤️ I agree with everything you said about Aurora 👍 After the single's release, Aurora explained: "It's quite a happy song… it's been a while since I've had a joyful song so it feels very nice. It was inspired by something quite sad as I looked at the suicide rates on this planet and apparently 73% of them were men and then I thought, why is that the case? Then I realized, obviously, it must be because of the feeling that you can't talk about your emotions and show that you're in pain because pain is often associated with weakness but you know, here in my world it's not, so the song is inspired by something quite sad but it is also happy because crying can be such a positive experience, especially afterwards when you actually feel a bit lighter. It's about that feeling to let off some steam as they say here in England." You should check out her latest live release that just came out, “Exhale Inhale live at VEVO 😍😍 And omg, I can’t see that you’ve reacted to “The Seed” official video 😳 This is a powerful song and music video A cry for Mother Earth 🌍❤️

Hey Bob - great reaction as usual! You pretty much nailed the meaning of the song. As others have probably told you, she wrote this when she read about the high suicide rate in men. She felt it might be partially due to the fact that men aren’t allowed to express their feelings - it’s seen as a sign of weakness. Bottling up those emotions is SO unhealthy. So you got it right - you’re a lot smarter than you look (sorry I couldn’t resist 😊). I also agree with what you said about her taking you places - sometimes uncomfortable places - but she makes you think and often offers a ray of optimism. I’ve seen lots of artists in my 72 years on this planet - lots of great ones, but Aurora has a very special place. There’s no one quite like her (maybe if Cindy Lauper and David Bowie had a love child). Anyway, take care and hope the birds calm down.

I like how you break to take off your headphones and come back for final thoughts. But this time you mentioned listening to the song again before coming back… and you looked at the lyrics before the reaction. I LOVE discovering new music… going to live theater and concerts was what I did most before the pandemic. So when I discovered Aurora I turned to watching others discovering her as a way to connect to others feeling the same way since I could not go to concerts (hope that makes sense) - side note… I am jealous that you got to see her live. Point is that after watching many reactions…. Looking at the lyrics prior is very common with the other people who react on KZbin and I think it helps for a more thorough reaction and not “cheating” at all. What is unique is you listening to the song again before returning…. I LOVED that. THIS is what you bring that others have not done before which gives you something different to offer. One of the things that bothers me watching someone react to a song I love is stopping too much or at the wrong time (not only because takes away from me watching them react, but I believe it takes something away from them truly experiencing the song the first time. You going back and listening to the song again… uninterrupted … coming back again.. gives me a more meaningful reaction. 💕

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind I have watched almost all of your reactions to Aurora and I know that listening to the song before you come back was different for this one. The first thing I thought was that it could be a “unique signature” thing that you could do that separates you from the rest. The second thing I thought of is that doing a reaction listening to a song for the first time kinda takes something of the true experiencing of the song for you personally. Its like someone recording an entire concert on their phone not totally being present for the experience of it. So going back right away listening to it on your own after allows you to get back some of that and also remember things you were thinking while first watching that you hadn’t had the opportunity to share because you might have gotten caught up in the moment.

The song is mainly addressed to men. Aurora also dealt with suicide statistics and over 70% of suicides are men. Much can be attributed to the fact that men have an unhealthy relationship with natural emotions because, contrary to nature, they suppress them. They have been taught this unhealthy and ostracized behavior. Because someone said 1000 years ago that tears mean weakness in men. Aurora opposes this.
