I find myself getting angry when strangers stare at me, or shake their heads. I realised, that I'm angry not because they're judging me - as they'll have forgotten me 2 minutes later - but more that I dislike myself, and I'm assuming they're hating me in the same way I hate myself. I didn't explain that well, but I hope the point got across.

Hey. I hope you’re doing well. I’m sure you’ve heard the cliche before, but it never hurts to hear it again. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to someone else. Cheers

Why would someone look at a stranger and just shake their head?

Gotcha. I think I'm the poorest person in my building, which I probably am, so I'm judging myself, so when my neighbours look at me, I judge myself for them.... Argh!!

We project our dark thoughts and insecurities on those blank canvases of other people. An awareness of this phenomena can elevate some of its worst consequences
@d33pLuM Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisBrown-or8ky it’s ok to be poor(er) than others, you’re TCOB-ing and if others look down on u for $$ reasons that has nothing to do with u- are u a good person? That’s what u should judge yourself & others on. But if men want to stay in the toxic paradigm of letting money and status control their perceptions of people and how they feel about themselves then that is a choice. We have to get comfortable with not being liked. Their boos should mean nothing, you’ve seen what makes them cheer.

This makes me so thankful I grew up before we had social media. I only use KZbin nowadays & have no wish to ever go near insta, Facebook etc. it just brings out the very worst human traits & magnifies all our deepest insecurities.

I do not adjust any of my photos, not even with filters but I’m 46 and can’t be arsed 😂 I find all the face tuning stuff weird and pointless because when people meet you in real life they can see you, the can actually see you.

Such a profound video! The idea of 'bragging razor' really stood out to me. It makes me question the way we perceive success and how it's portrayed by others. The concept that our own achievements should naturally come up in conversation rather than being thrust upon others is a refreshing take. It was interesting to think about the 'Instagram razor'. The false reality created online can indeed be deceiving. We tend to forget that we only see a carefully curated fraction of people's lives on social media. The part about being an 'extra in someone else's movie' hit home. It's a great reminder that we shouldn't be overly concerned about what others think, as they're likely caught up in their own narratives. Great content, as always!

Interesting point about how to view people bragging. One of the problems of people flexing on social media these days

I always did well in school. It didn't come easily, I studied hard but kids always copied off my tests. I was always shocked when those who copied STILL failed the test. Admittedly I always lied about my test scores b/c I hated being the "smartie pants" in the class. kids would ask your score and then treat you poorly for scoring well. It was easier to just lie.

4:00 Same thing happened to me at an amusement park while waiting in line. Girl wasn't that unattractive but she was still using the filters to look like a model. Biggest tell was when she posed with her (I'd assume) boyfriend and he looked way out of her league in the previews. The materialism of people astounds me sometimes. I don't even like taking selfies and people complement me that I look decent all the time.

How's this for judging success: anyone who's bragging is only concerned with his own ego. Really successful people have moral purpose beyond themselves.

id rather be looking at the landing pages produced by the guy for his clients as opposed to the one he did for himself. The illusion has been created and you've got under the comfort blanket ……… If there are two dentists in a town you don’t go to one with the best teeth. If you favor illusion over achievement it says a lot and you're walking around with a target on your back.

All well and good telling us not to care about others' opinions, but surely guarding one's reputation is important too? It's not so easy to remain indifferent when a vindictive ex-partner, colleague, family member, etc is in the midst of a smear campaign, for example.
@gotinogaden Жыл бұрын
I think it's almost impossible to NOT care at all, since this goes completely against the in-built evolutionary desire to stick to the group at all costs and avoid exclusion from it, because historically, social ostracism often lead to death. Having said that, I've quit jobs over smear campaigns (well, one job, but it was bad enough to leave it) and people do tend to believe what they hear, unfortunately. Trebly so if they do not possess critical thinking skills. It's one thing to hear the rumours, but once you start acting upon them without hearing both sides of the story, it becomes a huge issue.
