TheSmokingTire Awesome! I can't wait to see the rest. I have a '79 El Camino that was a father/son project 10-13 years ago and it's evolved a bit so seeing the Monte Carlo from DSE was great since I'd been looking at their stuff anyways.

Brennan McKissick I'm not being funny, but what makes this a muscle car? It had a v6 with like 200hp. Can you just increase hp in a car and make it a muscle car?
@BrennanMcKissick8 жыл бұрын
focused313 focused313 you must not be able to hear, count or look up history because he said the car has a Roush 302, it clearly looks like a V8 and if you're talking about factory trim then this car never had a V6 option. They were only inline 6s and this car doesn't have that motor in it anyways so what's the issue? If anything you could argue this is a pony car and not a muscle car but your comment/question is still laughable.

I really love what this Detroit speeds shop does from what I've seen lately . They take sporty classics and just give them just enough modifications that maintains the classic look and feel but just gives you a small nudge of better performance everywhere.Basically just fixing the flaws the car had and that it.. Simple yet effective. Would love to see a 55 Chevy from these guys

wow, you're a bit of an angry little man aren't you?? :) i'm a big fan of TST and matt in general but one thing he does tend to do in his videos is cut people off. you're spot on champ, he is the presenter and he can do what he wants. but one of the good things about YT is the ability for presenters to check feedback from their fans. do you actually respond to people like this in your life off the internet when somebody makes such an innocuous observation? there are two scenarios here... if yes, then you have anger issues. you need to work on that. if not, then clearly you revel in the anonymity of the internet... maybe you're the real skankhunt42? either way, get some balance in your life :) you're not healthy.

haha 325bhp "mild power". This thing weighs what, under 3000lbs,possibly well under. Thats a very nice p/w ratio. Either that engine is sluggish as hell for some reason with overstated power and huge losses from crank to wheels or youre extremely spoiled Matt ;) . Cause 325bhp simply cannot be mild power that will not get you in trouble , especially with that weight.

With horse power at the crank corrected for drivetrain losses he is probably getting 260-270 at the tires. I bet the car weighs 2850 lbs. This is enough to run low 13s in the quarter....maybe a 12.9? There are a TON of street cars that this car would out run. Still.....more power is more power. Check out the maier racing mustang. Its the owners personal car which he also races. I think its a 65', ford racing blue coupe. Looks PERFECT.

"...302 is not the greatest engine ever made..." Yeah, this comment pretty much qualifies you as another know-nothing, Matt. You're sorely mistaken, as the SBF is indeed one of the best, and most versatile, engines ever made. A long-lived and proven design, with stellar reliability, good oiling (unlike the Cleveland engines) in a compact package package that is easy and inexpensive to modify. Its only shortcoming is the stock oil pump drive shaft at the base of the distributor had a tendency to twist up like a pretzel in the early years of production.

302 is hard to kill as long as you don't go above 500hp. Go above 500hp and you're on borrowed time before that weak block decides to come apart. Hell, if you're over 400hp and beating on it regularly at the track it's going to split sooner rather than later. However, a normally aspirated 302 will make a healthy 350'ish hp all day long with some decent heads and cam, have good driving characteristics, and last a long long time.

I like that it's kept simple with the engine being carbureted because it's an older car but I bet if it ever went fuel injected it could pick up some power with a good tuner. Unless they had a really good carburetor tuner which I'm sure they do because it sounds healthy. What's everyone else's thoughts on this? My dad is doing a carbureted 489 BBC in a 67' Camaro. I think I might be able to take him in my 1.8 liter Corolla even when he's on the spray. >:-D
