There's a large negative sentiment about diesels in USA, also incredibly strict emission laws has manufacturers opting for hybrids as the economic option and gasoline for performance, no in-between.
@ricks84257 жыл бұрын
There a couple of things this 335d guy did to do. 1) Go with xHP Flashtune, it'll adjust the OTS map and will adjust shift points, shift quicker and hold more power. 2) Stay away from JB4, it's a US base company which does override as lot of diesel restriction. 3) KW Coilovers are great but not for daily drive use. They have a very short lifespan and needs to frequently valve compression adjustment and valve seals service. Bilstein PSS10 is the best and most durable. Look into JR Performance for their tune package. With the 3" straight pipe, DPF delete, downpipe, EGR delete and new FMIC you'll be pushing 385whp/620wtq. This will put a lot Camaro SS, Mustang GT, SRT8 and ZO6 showboater in check whether racing from a dig or rolling.

I'm doing that to mine. You have to gut the SCR system and weld a custom pipe. After my tune (Stage 2.9 Malone), I'll be pushing 400 whp and 670tq. My friend as an ats-v chipped to 550 hp / 600 torque that keeps up with the Ferrari 458 and rapes C63, M3s... interesting how mine will fare.

ELLIPSIS I didn't know they did a 135i of the E8x because our journalists drove the 130i. They compared it to the VW Golf R32. They called the R32 the winner but I never felt the 130i was what BMW would have done it seemed too substandard. And with the 120d and 123d of the E8x series and the F2x 125d and 135i it never sat well with me that bmw would not have a 135i for the previous model. You've ended years of frustration. Apparently they have less hp in USA? in Europe they have 285 stock. Just a stage 1 chip they get up to 350 whp. And this guy tuned it to 305? And torque is also way lower. 700 nm torque is usual here for a stage 1. The 335 needs a straight pipe also to make a hell of a sound. This one seems a bit boring even though it looks good.
@simonorr5948 жыл бұрын
The diesel here (USA) is of lesser quality than euro diesel - more sulfur, and it lubricates the injection pump less well. It is better than a few years ago when euro diesel vehicles could not run without immediate damage, but still not the same. This is probably one reason for the carbon build up.
@halsoy8 жыл бұрын
Did not know that, interesting. I wonder, do you happen to know what big trucks and fuel consumption numbers are? Cause here (here being Norway), if I drive with a weight of around 20 tons, my fuel consumption varies from 10.7 miles to the gallon and 8.4, depending on type of driving.
@murphywilson87828 жыл бұрын
+halsoy With a load of around 20 tons here in the US, they average around 2.5-3 miles per gallon
@halsoy8 жыл бұрын
murphy wilson damn. I guess our diesel is quite a lot better then. We probably have a stricter rule set for truck engines as well, with the EURO standard. It's forced the efficiency through the roof, and fuel use is super low.
@Ward4138 жыл бұрын
Yeah your Scania and Volvo FH are pretty conservative on fuel relative to our trucks here in the US. I've heard drivers here in the US say they can achieve 7.5mpg or so in newer Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks. Not sure what that comes out to in liters per hour.

Carbod clean up is easy add diesel kleen additive to the tank it adds 5 full points of cetane. Since usa diesel is crap at 45 cetane make a double mixture to run around 55 cetane take it on highway and let it have it. It will clean it out and look like it did when it had 10k miles. I drive and rebuild semi truck engines i seen on a daily what soot does to oil egr and cylinder walls if not maintained soot has fine dust particles that will leave scratches on the walls. i recommend running diesel kleen every fill up to raise cetane up to 50 its cheap 500 gallon mixture is 40$ and you will feel the difference in performance and mpg

Haha An additive to your diesel to clean a direct injection motor? You don't know much about these motors. The buildup occurs in the intake plenum, manifold and intake valves. It might work on your indirect injection truck motor but in this BMW and all the other modern european engines the intake and valves never see the fuel. That's the problem.

@DiscoFang5 жыл бұрын
nawzy202 Nice work bro. You just completely rewrote your post after my previous reply.
@DiscoFang5 жыл бұрын
nawzy202 What you say about the cetane rating of US fuels goes some way to explaining why there are so many reports of Euro diesels being clogged all to crap by 30,000 miles and less in the US. We just don't see that here in NZ and Australia. In fact I see BMW's with 120,000miles and just moderate build-up in the intake manifold.

My god its so silent compared to the usual reviews! I usually listen to this and don't watch but I felt the need to continually look back to see what you were doing because I couldn't hear the loud noises!

Is driving a manual the new manly thing in the US? In Germany we are used to a MT and it's nothing special. I do understand the envolvement argument. But a nice Mercedes or ZF auto or a good Doppelkupplungsgetriebe(Doubbe clutch gearbox) is a nice thing. Why have Americans become so obsessed with a MT?
@austinbentley27608 жыл бұрын
Because in America, they are slowly phasing the MT out of existence and the true enthusiasts won't have anything to keep them involved when driving a car. A MT is just so pure and when they don't offer it in newer sports cars it's like a stab in the back.
@Bob_Sacamano698 жыл бұрын
+iBOOM, Funny thing is that most of these "youtube manual enthusiasts" don't know the difference between a slush box auto, SMG, or DCT, so right off the bat you're fighting a losing battle with someone that thinks dual clutch transmissions are only available in Nissan GTR's. Another thing is American cars really haven't been successful with anything besides manual or automatics... www.autonews.com/article/20151207/OEM06/312079988/once-promising-dual-clutch-transmissions-lose-favor-in-u.s.

You do realize that while you can buy a MT diesel BMW in Deutschland, here in the USA our one and only choice is the ZF 8 speed auto? It's a fine auto gearbox, but BMW unnecessarily limits our choices on this side of the Atlantic.

All 35d's are STRONG up top. It's not just the tune - they pull to the redline. But, a tune makes it even stronger.
@puttitat28518 жыл бұрын
I'd say that the valve switching between turbos could have been broken. A *35d goes like the clappers from a standstill. Even my 330d singleturbo doesn't take two seconds to rush off the line
@nh908 жыл бұрын
Here in Germany you can get the 335d with a manual, but not the new F-series. I really dont get why so many german cars are so different on the american market.
@xmax8008 жыл бұрын
no you cant 335d is only available in auto
@craigj19698 жыл бұрын
yea i don't think you can get a 335d in manual, but you car get the 325d or 330d in manual for Europe

Matt you are 100% right about the VW diesels lol. I daily a Jetta with the 2.0 TDI, 5k redline but as soon as you pass 4k you may as well be hitting the brakes, all power is gone. Hopefully a tune will fix that but $$$
@3clecticskater8 жыл бұрын
+THESMOKINGTIRE it probably didn't sell well because Americans associate diesels in cars to frugality and low fuel consumption, and this was more of a performance diesel

diesel engines dont add up 10 k more than gas i dont care if it gets 100 mpg you are already in the whole with the purchase then maintenance doesn't add up if you have the money to buy a diesel what do you care about mpg when you chip those cars filters are the first thing to go
@Bunchofhelmets8 жыл бұрын
I've got the older version of this (e46 330D) and the power/torque is brilliant, it's quick enough to keep up with a 330i, with a map and an exhaust it's quicker. Plus the 6 cylinder sound is brilliant, this video doesn't do it justice. (Have a video showing it.)

Tri State Slammed I don't want a 3series. I don't like tattoos. But there's a reason why people drive these 3 series's instead of Forester's with springs that couldn't hold a fucking grape fruit off the ground.

Dont take my name too seriously. I love how the stanced cars look but non of my cars are stanced and I would never do it myself. I like performance too much to do that to my own car that I pay for.

Great car, I’ve got the ‘11 325d, the baby straight six and I love it, I’m only 22, got it at 21 so Insurance is quite a lot (£1400 last year - £650 approx this year) so insurance skyrocketed for the 330 and 335, plus this was the only car near me. Still love it though👍
