The stock suspension on the Hypermotard 950 SP is way to stiff and hard for my bodyweight and can get uncomfortable to ride and doesn't give me confidence when pushing on track.. so I wanted to address these and SW Suspension is the best in the business.
This only took between 2-3 hours to complete (it took me longer to drive there) and the bike will be out next again at Donington for the Ducati Day to do some further testing in May - so watch this space!

what van were you using? I'm after one for my 22 to take to the track. interesting video, but I can't get the whole suspension rebound or preload stuff. and I did my apprenticeship for LVBR.

Its a Ford 8-Seater Tourneo.. best Van i’ve had. Suspension setup is tricky and I’d always pay the upfront money to get someone to set it up and then tweak it depending on riding conditions..

very interesting, thanks for sharing, one question, at the rear you have changed the original spring from 180mm-100nm to 170mm-90nm, but at the front apart from raising the fork legs a bit on the triple clamp, have you done anything else? softer or shorter springs, less oil?, thanks

@@hypermotardking thx again, one more question, with the lowering in height and softening of the suspension, could it be that dynamically you have achieved an even more agile and slightly less stable motorcycle?
@hypermotardking
@hypermotardking Жыл бұрын
@@magirusmagirus8045 Definately more agile and to me its not unstable. I made all these changes for Track riding as the bike was horrible when changing direction and loading/unloading the suspension. I started with stock oem factory setting and slowly modified till it was perfect for my high corner speed and late late braking technique to get faster laptimes. I’ve kept these settings for road riding too

Just wondering, why did you get the SP version if you want something more comfy and plush on the road? That suspension is designed to be stiff it’s a performance suspension, not a street suspension.
@hypermotardking
@hypermotardking Жыл бұрын
Regardsless of the bike/version I always have my bike suspension tuned for our shitty bumpy uk roads and as I do alot of track days the ohlins helps ele its another £2K on Ktech or BiTurbo

@@hypermotardking I agree. That’s always a good idea. But you seem to not be happy with this firmness of it. Not sure how much track time you spent, but this design is for the track is meant to be firm. It might not be comfortable like you’re maybe used to, but it will handle better.

@hypermotardking Жыл бұрын
@@daytonasayswhat9333 check out my track videos.. got about 12 track days on my channel - on our UK tracks we have elevation, camber, blind crests so the direction change/load/unload really unsettles the Hyper on track when stiff.. so softening it allows the suspension to react and absorb instead of pogo

Just got my Hyper SP and I am almost exactly your weight (Light). Straight off--it seems I'm not seeing enough sag with rider--forks are at about 38mm with me on it. I think I heard him say 40-45mm--but I didn't hear a rear number? Did your guy here set those and to what loaded sag amounts? Did you go for the lighter rear spring yet? Also seems a good move. Thanks for all these videos! The Hyper source!

Yes lighter 90nm spring - this was a track setup as it was pogo’ing through corners/change of direction. This 1st video (in description) has the setting when I first got the bike: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZvOo5uHltiVl6s

Question on this service. Was the SP and Ohlins worth it? Would the base model have been softer from factory?

I had to take everything out to 0 on my bike I'm 230 pounds fully geared up. Set the sag in the rear at 55 and 45 in the front I'm only 4 clicks in on the compression on the front fork 3 clicks on the rear and it's finally riding better. Definitely track bike suspension out of the factory No good for the terrible roads we have to ride on here in California.

So OHLINS spent millions of £ on development, fitting a front fork with x amount of stroke / travel. But the local suspension guru removes travel , fits the wrong length springs & a few spacers . And your happy now. Even worse gour happy to pay for that. NEXT VIDEO TITLE = I've binned the hypermotard!!
