I think the producers imo wanted to base this storyline off of stereotype in the black community. Our father's have to have secrets in the marriage, family etc including the child outside of marriage. The problem with this is bc Frank was a successful business owner and his wife was a principal was too clean for the black household. All in all it was just a plot to tear down the black family. Im not taking up for Frank but the character development went downhill once this storyline played out
