What a coincidence! I was at a big Arts Festival the other day, and there was a painting on display of a dung beetle. He was standing upright, dressed in a black leather jacket with chains, like some hoodlum from a dark alley, and he had a switchblade knife pulled out & open in his right hand, and the caption read "Give me your sh*t." I once had a pet dung beetle. They like cow dung the best, but they will feast on human waste if nothing else is available. Like if the potato chips run out and all that's left are rice cakes. He was good friends with my pet stink bug. He never did his stink spray thing even once. I might have given him more credit than he deserves though, as after he passed on, I read where only some stink bugs can spray you with stink spray. Stink bugs stick to apples; they love them, they don't go for anything more earthy. They value their piece of apple so much, that if you drop a stink bug from a height, they will continue clinging onto their cherished piece of apple, instead of letting it go to increase the chance of a safe landing. Stink bugs get a bad rap. Stink bugs make good pets and are not a pest, even though they're classified as a pest. Your cat must have said a bad swear word for you to call it a dirty pussy. Didn't it like the Mofi? When I was a toddler I started saying bad swear words. No one knew what to do to get me to stop. I enjoyed MB y cussing like a stink bug enjoyed apple. What finally worked and got me to stop? They had a relative tell me " If you don't stop swearing, we are going to have to drop you in the lake." It's good to know that the Mofi speaker doesn't stink. They also make turntables and cartridges I think. If they manufacture or begin manufacturing amplifiers; someone could say they are playing a true complete Mofi system, from the speakers all the way down to the cartridge and even the lp. That might be a FIRST in audio. In a KZbin interview, a Mofi company guy said that their digital recorder that they copy master tapes with, has a sampling rate of over 100 million times per second. I figured this one out mathematically. That's way more than the number of times a helicopter's blades rotate in a trip from L.A. to New York. And in one second!

Thanks for the information. I don’t like stink bugs - they stink if I squish them. Dung Beetles can be left in your bathroom and they do all the work, unlike my mom.
@sidesup82867 ай бұрын
I tried that cleaning the bathroom thing with my pet dung beetle. I found that he couldn't keep up with me. I consume a lot of Tex Mex and soda pop. At least he had the perfect owner! In a race the stink bug will usually win over the dung beetle; they are closers. When they both passed on within a short span of each other, I felt an emptiness, like there was something missing, and I just had to replace them. I got ripped off by a guy who sold me some Dragon Flies from his garden. Dragon Flies only live a matter of days. An unbelievably short lifespan What a Ripoff! They passed before I could really get to know them. That guy now rests in peace. Not over his manipulative dealings, but he fell on a pitchfork they say. In old black & white TV shows that's how a lot of people went. That and quicksand. Whatever became of quicksand. How dramatic was tha!. Kids who watched tv often, were scared to death of quicksand. Today will likely be the worst day for future high end audio sales. It's a little known fact that high end audio sales suffer greatly from audiophile gambling. Today is the last leg of the triple crown races; The Belmont Stakes. Tonight the Stanley Cup playoff finals will start. Especially bad news for high end audio dealers in Canada, as most people lose at gambling on point spreads. And the NBA finals have just begun on Thursday and most gamblers will lose there too; mostly on the point spread. Gambling affecting high end audio sales is not mentioned very often. It's a real problem for some people. I know one guy who is an awful gambler and has the worst luck imaginable. Due to decades of continued losing on bets, he still hasn't been able to upgrade his 1967 Rectilinear High Boy Speakers, bought in 1967, or his wooden tonearm or his Shure V15 Type 1 cartridge. I think he still uses whatever came before tubes for an amp.

The point of a floorstander isn't bass extension. It's woofer square inches. Bookshelf speakers and a sub do not have the same punch and visceral impact of a speaker that has a 10+ inch woofer in a big box.

@@scientificaudiophile At what point do you notice the missing dynamics? 6.5", 5.25? It's not the same.
@scientificaudiophile3 ай бұрын
@@Joe-mi4jw The Audio Craftsman Laval, with a 6.5" driver, could play down to 60 hz without any issues and had amazing dynamics. Admittedly, they use very high quality outsourced products and because of that, they charge $2k. But that speaker, with a sub, crossed over at 80 hz, was fantastic. My reference speakers, Tannoy DC8ti floorstanders, with two 8" drivers can play better down low, but once a sub is added, there's really no difference. I would say once you get below 6", you're going to get into issues, even with a subwoofer.
@Joe-mi4jw3 ай бұрын
@@scientificaudiophile In my experience 8" is the minimum for satisfying mid and upper bass unless you're listening nearfield. Distance and maybe room size are big factors. You wouldn't get satisfying punch from a pair of 10" woofers from the 15th row of a movie theater. It's just curves.
@Joe-mi4jw3 ай бұрын
@@scientificaudiophile I got a pair of ATC 110s 10 years ago, best deal ever, and in my opinion this is a transformational experience when it comes to dynamics. You can watch Transformers at theater volume or Beethoven without any audible distortion. It's 2 9" woofers but they don't have big surrounds so they're not doing big excursions. I guess they dump a ton of energy into the visceral range and it is not comparable to any small speaker. They do enough deep bass, it mainly depends on how close they are to the corner. I've got subs, old but good Infinity Intermezzo 1.8 and Velodyne DD18. I recently had the amp fixed on the Velodyne and that driver is impressive looking. The Velodyne is in another system and the Infinity isn't hooked up. Watched batman with my 6th grader last night and that is a rock 'em sock 'em robot system holy crap.
