Uhhhh no. 😂 Shang Chi had a great Villian with fantastic action. NWH utilized the MC very well even with bringing nostalgia into the plot. The Batman was a great detective film with amazing cinematography and a great Villian. Wakanda Forever had a great Villian with great motivation even with the questionable ending. And all of those movies have a great amount of stakes and the CGI stuff in Shang Chi was only the last 20 minutes of the film. Joker is also nothing like what he described. There’s probably more examples too.

I have a little brother. Him and his entire class absolutely love the Shazam franchise and considers them to be the best superhero films they've ever seen. I mean superhero movies were unpopular in the 90s and really early 2000s. I more so think this is like a lull period and more stuff in the coming years will be on a upswing for the genre. It happens in a lot of mediums and genres like comedy, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, westerns, anime and western animation, mysteries, etc. Like right now I think we’re seeing a upswing in quality of animated shows and movies across the world with stuff like Arcane, Invincible, Spiderverse, and more after bit of a lull.

im going to be honest, i liked it a lot. i just came home from seeing it, and i found it very enjoyable. im not a superhero movie watcher at all, in fact we only went to see shazam because there was nothing else and my dad gets free tickets, but it gripped me emotionally. the characters were fun and the character arcs were compelling to me, the cgi looked very nice and the twists and turns made sense. the ending was a bit of a deus ex machina but it was one that made sense in the confines of the universe as far as im aware but i get how it may pale in comparison next to more serious superhero movies or whatever. it was fun and the only thing that ruined it was the little pricks behind me in the cinema who wouldnt shut up

i had 3 major problems with this movie that charlie didnt mention 1. SKITTLES- goddamn this movie had 3 different skittle references, with my favorite one being when the little girl says: "taste the rainbow motherfuckers" 2. the ending- for some reason they dragged the part of "oh my goodness is shazam dead!?" for way too long and its annoying especially when you know damn well he isnt dead 3. love stories- for some reason dc thought it would be a good idea to just have the girl say oh yea im 6000 years old and then casually kiss the kid??? and you know the movie is self aware because his dad literally said: "uhh this feels inappropriate" and that bit kinda resonated with me and oh sorry for kinda going on a rant lol

Would really appreciate a spoiler moist meter. I know it would double the work but would genuinely enjoy hearing Charlie go more in-depth or just being able to specifically bring up scenes etc. he took issue with.
