I can say that currently I fly the Belgian version of the S2, the Sonaca, and it is pretty much as they describe it, fun and light, forgiving and ready to let you feel all its vibrations and small noises, that are just how you get to recognise what is the plane telling you!

Hey Mike I have an idea for you. I've been following you and your reviews of all these aircraft and have enjoyed your videos. I think something that would make a huge difference for your viewing audience, at least for my anyway, would be if you made an Excell Spreadhseet and populated it with all the criteria you have amassed in your reviews. This would position you also as a reference for airplane buyers, and we could really compare in a more "hands on" context all the different aspects of the different planes. Things like "useful load, mpg, gallons per hour, cruise speed, max cruise speed, # of passengers, cost of kit, cost new, cost with builder assist, etc." What do you think?

Coming into a strong headwind Mike, coming from I guess what some would call a senior pilot now although I don't feel like it or like I am,, is a good idea to keep your airspeed up a little bit in gusting conditions but if it is more of a headwind, shorten your approach so if you do have that uncomfortable sound of silence you can still make it to the runway. Excellent narration especially when you mentioned one must be sure of their skills and get comfortable in their airplane.

Mike, just thinking about your sling tsi and was wondering if you have builder assist who can sign off the annual condition inspection. If you are considered "the builder," as an EAB plane, you could sign off that inspection. Or, an A&P can do it - he charges for that service. Who would be paying for that?

Have fun paying an A&P $100+ an hour to fix it after every other flight. That's a 70 year old airplane. With a Sling you pay up front but the operating costs are pennies. That sling cruises at 7.1 gph at max eco cruise, not 12, uses mogas that is half price of low lead and virtually never breaks. And if it does, it's usually small and YOU can fix it yourself. That mooney will cost you up to $20k or more per year in maintenance if you fly it often. 70 year old avionics, 70 year old engine, 70 year old airframe. Again, good luck. I'd rather just pay the loan and never worry. I've been at the sling pilot academy since the first TSI came to the hangar. It has about 500 hours on it now after about 16 months and it never breaks. It's had small issues of course but I can't remember it ever being grounded except the time Rotax grounded every 915is for the valves. But they personally flew a rotax guy in to replace the valves and payed for everything. So my point is that in aviation you pay, either up front or on the back end but everybody pays.

Mike, far be it from me to tell you what you should do, but here's what you should DO. :) Get a check ride in a sling - it's an airplane! They all mostly fly the same. Get your check ride, then YOU fly the the plane - with NO instructor on board. You are acting like John F. Kennedy - he always had an instructor flying with him. You need to be ON YOUR OWN, Bro. You can't go anywhere in that Sling without a IFR rating. The Wx changes drastically in 50 miles . The IFR rating is tough - costs around 7 to 10K. That's the easy part. The training is HARD. The Instrument exam is HARD. Flying VFR is a piece of cake - close your eyes and push in the throttle. NOT IFR. Lots to think about. FIRST, get your sling check ride and fly by yourself. I'm telling you like it is. Good luck.
