Goodday Lou, What a great family affair video. Mum bought it how good is that especially in 1975 with the fuel crisis going on & the prices of fuel so so expensive. I remember talking my parents into buying a 1969 Chrysler VIP with a 318 V8 in it. Going from a slant 6 to a V8 what a difference. And yes my mum drove it & loved the extra hp that's what this story reminds me of. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤

My favorite "My Car Story" of all time that really hit home. I grew up in this town and this car is probably the best car/best known car that ever came out of that town. The grandmother who bought the car for graduation was a farm neighbor of ours who lived on the same section of land we lived on (great lady and family). The original owner traded that car in on I believe a black 1973 Grand Am. I heard it got traded in but was in no situation to get the car. I know who did buy the car next and whatever year it was 1975/76 the current owner then got the car. When I heard the current owner got this car I expected even then they would keep if forever. The 69 Charger RT was one of the greatest Chrysler products of all time. Even better this particular car had the best paint color offered and you just can not beat those white interiors. In the end, I am glad they got the car because they made sure it did survive. The son is too young for me to know but I do know who all the others are involved with this car (we were in high school at the same time). I also remember the green 69 Charger before and when they got it. Thanks Lou and best wishes to and a special thanks to this family for preserving this great car.

Another great car from a channel that keeps on finding precious vehicles to showcase. I was born in the early 1960's so I remember this era - particularly toward the end of the 1960's. My Dad had a Gulfstream Aqua 1968 Ford Torino GT Fastback that I remember from the shaking of the ground when he came home from work. While the car was completely stock, that V-8 had a rumble that did vibrate the ground near the house when he pulled up close to it. That car was his pride and joy so I can relate to this owner's Mother celebrating her Charger. My Dad likely would have bought a Charger but my Mom could not see over the dash so he purchased the Torino. Thank you for continuing your efforts with your channel and you are such a resource. Kudos to you and you are appreciated here.

'What a great story'....Yep, one of the best !!! Car is amazing !!! I saw the thumbnail before going to work this morning,,,,knew i had to see this clean thru. Worth the wait, Lou !!! ha, told my self not to prattIe on too much but i had one... I had one, copper tone metallic, chromies, 383 Magnum (AFB, finally), 727 and a sure grip. Price in '77, $750, bought from the older brother of one of my first GF's in grade school (I liked girls and they liked me). I hadn't seen her in years. Sure, looked great but not perfect. Needed some help which i tried to give it (on my own at 19). Poor thing got hit and totalled while parked in '80. I was offered $1065 for, which i accepted (odd even gas rationing...) The family i mentioned with the '58 Del Ray was a truck driver. He saw it go down the freeway on a flat bed truck. My first thought, 'its gonna be a Dukes Jumper' Tickets, ha, much to my GF/Wifes dismay, nope. Yes, i drove it ;) One Sunday evening before we were married, she'd spent the day with me and like 9 i drove her home. Nice little two lane road, all straight line. I don't remember getting on it but i guess i exceeded the speed limit and got pulled over. Wife, finally, they're gonna write you up. Response to the cop, "I gotta bring my girlfriend and its foggy in here so didn't know how fast i was going". Cop, "OK, well just slow down next time". He let me go. Her, she slugged me in the arm hard as she could. Got tickets before and after, never in the '69.

Lou, several times you mentioned that this was a, "440" but it's a, "440MAGNUM"! The 440 put out 350 ponies while the MAGNUM edition pumped out 375 of them. The torque was a bit more as well. I don't remember all the particulars but I'm sure a good car afficianado could quote them for you. The "6-Pack" option, or the triple deuces with the 3-two barrel carbs was closer to 390 hp. Mine run like, "scalded dog" as my Dad would have phrased it. Thanks for all the great cars for all these years Lou!

@@loucostabile already a subscriber on my other phone. You are one of the classiest car guys and my son is a big fan also. A little side story, I had done my best in 1966 to convince my Dad we needed a Pontiac GTO but he wouldn't hear of it and bought a Pontiac Gran Prix but I think back and man that GP was a beautiful car. When I graduated highschool in 1969 he cosigned for me to get my green Charger 440 MAGNUM RT with green interior and black vinyl top. He never said a word about it having a "6-Pack" but I am not sure he knew what it was but it was the only charger the dealership had. I didn't mean to go on and on, but hey what great memories the 60s hold for me!

It sounds like his mom and my mom had a bit in common. While my mom didn’t have a Charger, she loved her cars to perform and to be fast. Because of having 5 kids at the time she bought a new 66 Pontiac Catalina 9 passenger wagon (I was born 4 years later). That wagon was “just a little faster” than the average wagon and in the 1/4 mile it lost a race to a 69 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed by a half of a fender. Another time She was also told by a state trooper in Iowa “You’re from Minnesota- The Minnesota state line is 20 miles that way. Go back across it and promise me you will NEVER come back to Iowa again and I won’t give you a ticket”. For some reason that trooper had a problem with a big family land yacht leisurely cruising through his state at a little over 130 MPH.

Amazing car. Really loves the -69 Charger. Well, we had a carmeet in my little town namned Falköping Sweden in July 30th. It broke the old record for most classic american cars. 1 860 cars counted under 1 day. With 140 more cars, it was a record. That's completely amazing. Always last weekend in July since the first Nasco Yankee Meet 1999. First meet it was just a few hundred cars, since then it has grown bigger and bigger. Most of the years it had around 1 100 to 1 200 cars. But this time it was a record. This makes the event one of Swedens biggest carmeets. If I have counted correctly, my little dead town, that comes alive for just one day a year are top 5 in the biggest classic american car meet in Sweden.

Power Big Meet I guess counts as one of the biggest carevent in the world when it comes to classic american cars with about 20 000 cars visiting under 3 days. Bilsport (Carsport translated directly to english is a big magazine in Sweden) got their show every easter weekend for 3 days named Bilsport Performance & Custom Motor Show. A SEMA-like event, but the only difference are that this event also are open for public. Big carbuilders have been there. John D'Agostino visited with some of his cars for example. Then you got Stockhom Open.Well, not the tennisevent tho. This event started one year after my birth in 1982. That event are the worlds biggest illegal streetrace. A documentary does exist about this event made by 1320video. Even the Outlaws where asked if they should go to Sweden and race. The answer was: "We do real streetracing, but we can't count Sweden. Because that's just crazy in another level."

Gosh that's a beautiful Charger and just as beautiful owner story. Love seeing my all time dream car on this channel. This really is just the story of some very open-minded and badass grandmas and moms. I don't know many moms willing to let their kids have so much horsepower right out of highschool. Certainly wish there 1 or 2 in my family tree haha! John's grandma is probably one of the smartest people to ever buy these E and B bodies, knowing how valuable they would soon be. I still think the older Mopars were some of the most individualistic cars the working man could reasonably buy, letting people swap around just about anything if they custom ordered the car. And that's evident in their pricing today.

Lucky mom and Grandma, My mom's dad bought a new 1957 Nomad and grandma hated it. My mom hates 2 door cars, as a kid she wouldn't even park next to one, as she thought it would hit her car when the driver got out.

I’d trade my kids for a Charger. Just kidding…unless it is a Hemi 4 speed.
