My mom passed away last year and she never liked photographs of herself and she WAS a very good photographer so the pictures are usually just of me and my dad or me and my dad and grandmother and aunt, but not my mom. One year we actually went to a professional to do a family photo session and he wanted to get one of just me and my mom. My mom never liked to smile because her teeth weren't great but I hugged her from the back and said "smile for your baby!" (meaning me, a 30-something year old at the time :)) and she smiled a genuinely happy smile and CLICK. That picture is one of my most favorite things and both my dad and I cry when we look at it but it's my favorite picture of my mom.

@@bossyheifer Your post hit home. My mom didn’t like pictures of herself. At first it was probably because of her teeth and then it carried over after she had dentures. I don’t have ONE picture of her and me alone except as a newborn. Guess what? I was stupid and have almost let myself do the same thing to my five children. So I am trying not to be self-conscious of my smile and my weight. I’m trying to take pictures of me and my children and not just in group shots. Thanks for this reminder.

Yep. My mom passed a couple of years ago and the only photo of me and her together is a group photo w/my grandma and daughter. Its great to have the 4 generation photo, but that's it. My daughter was about five then, now she's 25.

In addition to a full-time job, my side hustle is as a photographer. Whenever I shoot a wedding, I take photographs of people taking photographs for the exact reason of the song. For one of two reasons they're the ones taking pictures. One they generally enjoy taking photographs, so they're not in a lot of photographs. Or two, they don't like being in pictures so they volunteer to be the one taking photographs. Either way I tend to take pictures of them taking the pictures so they're actually in some pictures.

I grew up in the 60's and photos of my Mom are like unicorn sightings! She didn't feel pretty so avoided the camera - what a shame! I took most of the photographs when my kids were small but I insisted I be in lots of them, no matter how awful I looked. I know my kids won't care when I'm gone if I looked good or not, they'll treasure all the photographs.

Late Bloomer, I am guilty of this very thing. I never gave consideration to how others would feel. (My husband and children). They love the pictures of me where Is just criticize how I look. From now on I'll let my loved ones take pictures of me. 💕

When my Mom got older, I could convince her to be in the photos. Best photo I ever took was of my wife. It was at the ocean during our trip to Melbourne. The wind was blowing her hair a bit and the background was slightly out of focus. She's a private person so I won't post it here, but for every photo I've taken since, that one pic is the bar I try to attain.

I used to work for Photopass at Walt Disney World. A major inspiration for the service was a husband that was frustrated that he (or his wife) was often snapping the family vacation pictures instead of being in the family pictures. I love this! I am not a mother and I am not married but this is so much me! I am hardly ever in any photos even a photos of amazing experiences I've had or with amazing people I've met because you guessed it, I'm the one taking the photo. No one else was around to take the photo. Also since I value experiences more than anything materialistic I tend to get too caught up in the moment. Oftentimes I will have these amazing experiences are be with amazing people but I am so in the moment, so in the now enjoying things that I don't even remember I've got a phone camera in my purse or I might even have a camera around my neck and it doesn't even one time crossed my mind to stop and take a photo. By the way this is fantastic! As every one of your song parodies have been. I have been following you and reposting your song parody since the very first one you guys ever made.

Yep Kim I'm the picture-taker as well. To this day my sister insists I've never come to her home after decades of attending practically every holiday. Her proof? I'm not in any of the pictures. When I tell her I'm not in any of my photos either because I'm always the photographer, she gives me stinkeye. Then when I describe her house she leaves the room. I think people REALLY don't consider who takes the pictures and how it can look like that person is never around to those who weren't born yet, or part of the family yet. I think I know how this became the topic of the parody, Kim had to explain why she's not in pictures to the family member who asked why she's not in any pictures. :-D 📷
