Horror games need to have super clear pathing and direction for this exact reason. Especially during a chase scene you need to see where the fuck you're going or else it loses literally all tension having to do it over and over.

They also need to be slightly forgiving. Many chase sequences give you absolutely no room for error, which ruins the tension of the chase as it causes most players to keep dying over and over. So ironically, by giving the Player more time to make mistakes, it helps preserve the tension of the chase more. Like with the game Amnesia: The Dark Descent, there's a good argument that game is surprisingly easy once you strip all the tension away, but like a Good Horror game it uses the tension it builds as it's layer of difficulty in order to make you panic at simple tasks.

Poppy Playtime’s producers/creators are terrible people! Its a shame you had so much trouble with the final chase. Me and my friend played together and only died like 3 times maybe but thats just because we got lucky with the hitboxes so it was still fun to us. Sorry it kinda tainted the experience for you. However, your deadpan reaction when you kill Mommy Longlegs, just pulling the lever down the whole time, making sure she gets crushed all the way, while staring her down and not saying a thing while she screams and dies?
