Delta, three days ago Newsom signed a law to ban ALL plastic bags in stores. Dollar Tree is just using their flimsy plastic bags from other states (final iteration) until they are forced to only have paper bags beginning 2026. Paper will be Very Delta in 16 months!

Delta is so correct clocking the reusable bags industrial complexe so fiercely. The way they trynna snatch your last coins after Miss inflation dicks you down at the store is not very Delta for me. And them bags be looking like a Gen Z's baggy ass jeans full of holes and old food spots after max 5 shopping trips. The Earth's still fucked and the icebergs be melted to the gawds no matter if Dollar Tree and Gavin Knewsome wants to jail you for using a Plastique bag. I know you are joking, but Aldi's (and most europeans supermarkets) reasoning for putting a coin in the shopping cart is to make you return the shopping cart back to where it belongs and not leave it out there in the middle of the parking lot. The coin is not meant to be 'anti-theft' because you can still basically steal the cart for .25cents or 1 euro/pound here in europe is just so people bring it back to where it belongs

I bought a trolley token from Temu because I never have coins, but I still bring the trolley back without any money incentive. I am Irish so it's just a normal societal thing we do. I'd feel rude leaving it for someone to do for me. Not returning it seems very NA. US customers seem to expect frontline workers to do everything.

I’m anti capitalist (the opposite of delta lol) and don’t shop at all but when I go to the store I would never leave the trolley out. People here are in too much of a rush compared to other places. People drool over their phones but can’t spend 15 seconds at the store

P.S. the comments on Pandora's age always made me cringe so hard and i distinctly remember checking a few good friends of mine for engaging in it [they are the exact same age as Pandora. (like, get a grip girls) it was foreshadowing tho, for what drag race was always intended to become. it isn't about drag, or being the greatest performer on the show. it is about looking like the boring crap ideals Hollywood/Fashion have declared are "IT" so all the people that are adddicted to Hollywood will hopefully worship you like a celeb. don't get me wrong, that's all valid art too, but all of that, is not drag. being a drag PERFORMER is a hell of a lot more than just mimicking someone else's art on your body, and it has been since the beginning of drag.

Plastic bags cost 10 cents everywhere in California because it's a law. The final bag is likely flimsier because it's made of recycled plastic, where the first two are recyclable but not made of recycled plastic.

As someone from Florida, the last dollar tree bag is the one they use in our stores. I was visiting California last year and got to experience the AMAZING shopping bags, I was totally okay with paying for the plastic bags at the stores because they were so much better than what I've experienced my entire life. I actually brought home bags in my luggage to re-use when I got home.

Recycleable and recycled mean completely different things in the marketing jargon. If something is recycleable, that's basically a statement for its future potential and it doesn't say jackshit about how much of it is made of recycled material. 30% recycled material, however, says what it is made of but doesn't indicate jackshit about its future reusability.

They really expect us to be washing 10 cent reusable plastic bags, keep track of using it 100+ times and then give it back to them for free to recycle? At this point paper bags are superior in strength and recyclability. I feel like it's just a racket to force us into carrying our own fabric bags which isn't bad. But they're still making the plastic bags and just finding an excuse to charge for them, it's no truly helping the planet. I'm curious about instacart/grocery delivery situations where you're not able to provide your reusable bags to the shopper. It feels like we're always going to have plastic bags. Just move completely back to paper bags like it's the 70s. I feel like they're making it hard on purpose. Even the kids trick or treating the past few years using grocery bags ended up blowing out and we were handing out our own supply of plastic grocery bags so the kids could gather everything that spilled on the ground and keep trick or treating. Like it's obvious we'll reuse the bags, just make them strong enough to last multiple uses damn.

I live in Oklahoma, and they still don’t charge for plastic bags. I use them as liners for the smaller trash bins in my home. Now these bags are MUCH thinner. The cashiers cram as much as they can into these bags. I have to request double bagging for items with sharp corners because the bags rip so easily. Many times, the bags rip before I get them home. So I can’t use them as trash can liners anymore really. They’re all full of holes.

Not sure if anyone already said this, but when something says “% recyclable” that means that product has the ability to be recycled and doesn’t necessarily mean it was made with previously recycled plastic. When something says “% recycled”, that means an item was created using that amount of recycled materials. Due to the fact that recycled material very rarely gets purchased and most of it just ends up in landfills anyway, a 100% recyclable plastic bag is actually much less sustainable than a 30% recycled plastic bag. Totally understand the confusion though!
