One of the most underrated MTB channels out there. Can't say enough about the ability to use the existing bushings and spacers tp an exact fit. I had to buy special sizes for Fox shock, which was a pain in the ass and extra delay. Great content fellas!

I had my DNM shock upside down for the longest time. Eventually swapped it to not look stupid.. or at least as stupid Update: I've seen a lot of full suspension bikes with the rear shock mounted in either direction. I would think you'd want the canister higher to keep oil lubrication from pooling and to keep dirt from just sitting on the seals Update to update. Reading threads online. Seems it doesn't matter. Whatever give the best clearance and access to the controls and air ports.

Are the more expensive shocks worth it. That depends. You wear them out and throw them away and tuning is very limited. With the name brand shocks spend a little more up front but you can rebuild them which over time saves money and greatly reduces waste + for those of us who ride hard and ride a lot. Being able to fine tune for the type of riding we do is priceless. As well with name brand quality controls it's less of a Russian Roulette game when you buy them.

Most of our audience is looking for the more affordable options and only a small amount of them would rebuild a shock or fork. As far as adjusting options, there is alot you can adjust on some of the budget shocks that we have tested. We have a comparison video coming out at 8am central time. Check it out and let us know what you think. Thanks man and see you tomorrow.

With DNM AOY-36RC seems to work best when you have half the amount of air that you have in the main air chamber. Example if you have 100psi in the main air chamber put in 50psi in the negative air chamber. It makes the rear shock feel nice and plush. I currently have the DNM RCP 2S coil shock on my enduro bike. It feel really nice and plush great small bump sensitivity and can take a hell of beating without missing a beat. Should consider a coil rear shock for the Ledge X1.

I ended up going with the DNM DV22R which is a coil shock w/adjustable rebound damping. The damping works great and is a good match with the Himalo on rebound. Very controlled. I am going to try different spring rates as the stock (750# w no preload) unit is a bit stiff for my old frame's leverage to overcome. The bike is coming along nicely. Time to 1x that bad boy! Cheers

Ok so a couple things, xfusion does make rear shocks, the o2r is really common on 2-2.5k bikes. And also did you fill the negitave chamber on the shock? Your supposed to fill both of the red values to equal pressure. Itll make it a lot more plush off the top. Ths dnm dosen’t equalize the way a rockshox or fox would. Hope this helps and love the vids!

Man that friggin stem! It kills me everytime. Still feeling nauseous after watching you ride with that! You should try flipping it and see what it looks like inverted. It’ll give a slightly more race look and as I understand will make it feel like lower stack height but also increase reach slightly (never done it myself). It sounds like you need a fairly long stem on that bike given how tight cockpit feels so even with a stem upgrade you may want to run one that has slight rise inverted. Be interested to hear how that feels! You could also add some spacers under stem and flip it! It’ll keep that killer projectile steerer tube under control. Nice to see vids where you do some upgrades again!

11:43 it's most likely just the air in the hose of the pump, it would be about 5p psi on that one. But if the shock actually lets air out there that's something wrong with the valve, so make sure those are tight, but first, remove all air in the shock.

The shock can go both ways, but of course on some frames the shock can perform worse or better, depending on the direction, due to flex shock gets, so there could be stiction. But that's something you can't just know. On my previous bike I noticed slight shock stanchion wear but that was a flexy bike. It was not any horrible wear, just enough discoloured to notice. And that was with stanchion down. Different bikes flex differently. But of course there is the issue of clearance and reaching the dials. So mount it what aver way fits an syou an acsess the adjusters. But position can be slightly tweaked with offset bushings. This changes geo slightly. Of sett bushings are bushings that go into the shock eyelets and hole is not in the middle. Some frames i decades ago used the shock as a structural part if the flame, so the shock made the frame not be too flexy, but chnage of shock could make frame alot stiffer or flexier, but also too heavy rider and shock would be prematurely worn. So most don't do that now. For example my bike and but there will still be flex, there has to be flex in the frame, but when bike is loaded shock might get flexed and get stiction so won't perform as well, so my bike has spherical bearings which let's the shock Rock side to side, resulting in less stiction and smoother shock.

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS as long as the dust wiper seal is made to spec/has great tolerances, and is not worn it should work. I don't know which seals they use. if a seal does a good job for one a one winter with harsh conditions then it is good. if you can pull it off by hand, it is awful, not up to spec.

I like the idea of two air chambers, cus you don't have to use volume-reducing spacers so you can fine-tune it easier. If this shock is made with great tolerances and does not have flawed internals, then this is a great deal for sure. So this shock deserves some more testing, would be interesting to see what a suspension tuner would say about it. But the shock definitely has settings that high-end shocks have. so definitely a great deal if it's a shock that performs well long term without exploding. but I've not looked into DNM forks much, but some are bad.

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I guess their for us is on shocks, but the forks are much simpler, lack adjustment, and are heavy. And they stiffen up in just few hours of riding. Probably due to taking in water, mud, and possibly bad tolerances, stiction and wear. I don't know I've not taken them apart. But the dual crown fork did not perform well. I don't see any reason for me to waste my mine on it. I only buy stuff I am interested in. But I've looked at these forks enough to know its not good. But shocks might be decent who knows. Only proper testing and long term use and disassembly could show if shock is damaged or not. But keep in mind if the bike it is tested on is too flexy the shock will get premature wear

Only 110mm on this 27.5" straight steerer version 🤔 Second video it looks like you had fun flying sideways a few times. Guess the somewhat linear action of the fork, and low-end sealed compression damper were the cause of that. I've not personally ridden this fork yet as it was on the GF's bike. Do shock that cost more feel and work better? yes they do.. by far, but you are always going to be happy and used to what you have... so if you never shoot for the moon with bike parts you can still be impressed with newer slightly better budget parts. Once you have that full suspension bike complete you won't set your butt on another hardtail thats not for your show do yourself a favor try to protect the frame because paint will chip like crazy on that bike other than that 2021 scott spark with a dropper post weighs 34.5 lbs so you won't be far away from a 3000 dollar bike... I sit here a little jealous because half the fun of owning a mountain bike is what you are going to upgrade no fun having all you will ever need for the trails I ride 99.99999999999% of the time.... BTW get into gravel bikes regardless if its a 90s MTB called a gravel bike and thats true it makes XC trails more interesting and require more skill I recently got a flat bar specialized diverge and it blew my socks off on how well it performs and shreds on light trails/xc trails.

And I can probably hear the internet trolls right now saying a gravel bike is useless when you have a mountain bike but my reasoning for it is I take it on trails that my mountain bike is way too much for. A gravel bike allows the trail that would normally be way too easy on the bike I currently use a little bit harder to get through and when you live in Florida and you only have one choice close by to ride on you can understand why I want a gravel bike plus there's endless gravel roads here in Florida especially ones that go through nature... Xr pro vs ledge x1/x2? Thoughts
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS 2 жыл бұрын
Ledge x1 tapered, 27.5, great feel and slack. I love 27.5 bikes and this really fits me. The XrPro is a little big and a 29er but damn is it sexy! And the ledge X2......We do not have.....That on mind, if your short go ledge x1, tall x2. Wanna just ride and little upgrades here and there, xrpro.

Stock xr pro good enough for city riders?
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm....I would say yes if you are a bigger guy with short arms. Right out of the gate it's a little cramped and high up, you can get a longer stem and bars overtime but right out of the box its gonna be tough.

Your running too much sag. You need to run 5psi more than recommended on the chart so when you take the pump off you don't lose a lot of air. If you really want to spend a bit more money then go with a Rockshox Deluxe.

Well dont wanna spend more $ but if we choose to up the $ a little we may look at it for the Ledge X1, that would be cool. SEE YOU FRIDAY FOR BUDGET TUBELESS!!

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Tubeless. What a friggn mess!!! You lose a pound. Woopie!!! But when you explode a tire on the trail with tubeless then most of the time the tire splits. Which means it's junk and your walking!

@Dave Gravitt Agree 100% but you left out the part about casing a rim with 20psi and having to find a new rim which is a total b!&@h right now.😂🤣👍
