When I was in high school, most of the people I grew up with knew that it was not only wrong to mess around with a married man or woman, it was also dangerous. I knew two girls who were killed for messing around with boyfriends of other women. At age 19, she had a sense of right and wrong just like all of us. And we can't pretend that she was somehow blackmailed into an 5-year affair with a high school teacher after she was already in college. The married men were absolutely wrong and she was also wrong for her part in the affairs. What she did was the start of a pattern that I've seen so many women engage in. The fact that her second affair with a married man blew up into an international scandal broke that pattern in epic fashion.

The answers to your questions depend on whether that 18/19 year old grew up in a dysfunctional home where similar inappropriate behavior was normalized or had a history of being abused by adults. In Monica’s case, she experienced events growing up (men in power taking advantage of her) that distorted her understanding of what respecting boundaries was. By the time she was 19, men in power such as her teacher and Pres Clinton preyed on her unhealthy understanding of “normal” behavior, repeating the trauma she experienced in her youth. So, to answer your questions, it depends on the 18/19 year old in question.
