The LG 27GR83Q has been frequently on sale in my region, USA, for $350 on LG's website and sometimes Amazon and Best Buy. In fact, I bought the 27GR83Q for $280 due to a coupon code at the time when I bought it last August. At that price, the monitor felt like it was a steal and I've been loving the monitor for the last 2 months.

For anyone wondering, after a fair bit of time/research, I've learned that this monitor, the MSI G27QPX and the Gigabyte M27Qx (rev2) all used the same BOE panel. Which doesn't appear to have that good of a reputation vs the sharp panel previously used by the M27Qx Rev1 or other IPS panel manufacturers (LG, etc...).

I was gonna buy an LG 27GP850 for Christmas since it costs around 280€ in my region. This LG 27GR83Q seems to cost around 330€ so only 50€ more than the 27GP850. So I will definitely buy the 240Hz LG since the price difference isn't huge.

Excellent video, thank you. Straight to the point, thorough but easy to understand and follow. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about monitors but while shopping, "solid" was basically my impression of this monitor and that seems to be the case. I just want something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg but doesn't have any glaring flaws. I'm going to purchase it as my first gaming PC monitor at $350 US and probably upgrade to something really nice in a year or 2. I just don't have the funds to purchase a nice PC and an incredible monitor at the same time. I'll be coming back here next time I look to upgrade. Thanks again.

Great review as always. This seems to come in at a great price imo, but the overshoot despite relatively mediocre response times is a bit disappointing. On another note entirely, do you have any plans to review the AOC Q27G3XMN? 1440p 180hz mini-led all for under $300. It almost seems too good to be true, and I've yet to see more than one english review of it.

Any chance you'll get a look at the ASUS VG27AQML1A? It's in a similar price range, boasts a 260hz refresh rate, and appears to be very similar feature wise. There's like nothing out about this monitor, and I'd love a fairly direct comparison between the VG27AQML1A, The MSIG274QPX, and the LG lg 27gr83q. Yes I've posted this in the MSI video as well. It's a good year for 1440P 27" 240hz monitors, so would be nice to get a possible 3rd review out there for what looks to be a solid monitor. You guys do amazing work, so it would help a ton of folks if you could check this monitor out.

@@Aleeto_ Worse in terms of color accuracy, viewing angles and viewing angle. AKA, it looked significantly worse to the human eye (IE no tools). They did not have any way to check motion, and didn't comment on it, as they returned it within a few hours because it was NOT good. Given from what I can tell, the LG and MSI are a new generation, while the ASUS is an older gen, so I'd go LG, which also has HDMI 2.1 which is a huge plus. I have the MSI G274QPX and love it, but I get it's also lacking compared to the LG in a few areas, but no regrets, as I got it for $320 before the LG dropped to $350, and it wasn't worth the hassle of returning.

@@legianw4954 dogwater lmao. Has typical va smearing, hdr doesn't look great, local dimming has some significant blooming, and the color is extremely red. It's probably a good upgrade if you don't have an IPS but that's about it

I just got the AOC Q24G2A shipped from the UK to the US. 24" 1440p 165hz gsync ips, a rare size it looks really sharp, 123ppi. I wish Tim would have looked at it on here, but looking at 3 reviews of it online they all pretty much said the same thing, it's a fantastic monitor for the size/price😊

Hey, i just bought this monitor a few days ago for productivity + gaming after having a very cheap 75hz VA since 2017. The colors are pretty ok and the lower contrast doesnt bother me too much but theres (to my eyes) horrible bleeding thats noticable even in brighter scenes from around 20 brightness during daylight and the edges of the screen are a lot darker than the middle of the screen. The 165hz feel really good and the resolution looks perfect but the screen being so uneven is ruining my experience. Is this to be expected at this price point with IPA or should i return it?

@@nightin5284 Its all around a really good monitor. Has really good quality and accurate vibrant colors. Cant complain about anything with this monitor besides it being a IPS Panel so the corners of the screen have some backlight bleed when viewing at angles. Overall its worth it for $300. I got 3500 hours on mine and love it. Just waiting for the OLED market to drop in price so for now im really happy with it especially for PC gaming and work.

Nothing can beat a CRT when it comes to input latency. There is no processing. However, LCD goes to 500+ hz nowadays so the smoothness , motion clarity and input latency are getting better and better. The huge drawback is the processing power needed for that fps. At the moment you can not have the input latency and motion clarity of a CRT, on any other type of screen.

Returning the LG 27GP83B-B.AUS in a few hours. It seems like this monitor's little brother lol It's a good monitor after correcting the color settings, but decided to just grab a 4k on blackfriday. The only weird quirk on this monitor is that running free sync seemed to cause me a flick issue randomly. Disappeared when I disabled it. I didn't notice any other difference after I disabled it so I'm unsure why it was on by default. Anyways, if someone wants something in the 144 or 165 range and doesn't care about freesync (unless that's just the monitor i got), I can recommend it.

I am not sure if MU will consider this comment at all, but I would like to see a review/comparison for a completely different segment of market that has nothing to do with gaming: office/developer monitors. As strange as it sounds, looking for 27" PWM-free, eye care/low blue light, 16:10 monitor with low contrast (ISP), 1440p, is not that easy.

I know I have probably been lucky with my particular unit but my Samsung Odyssey G7 performs so much better than these IPS monitors it's crazy. If Samsung could just get their quality control down or offer their exact pannel tuning to a different manufacturer with better quality control, they would absolutely steal the market.

My LG 34"UW 144hz bought in 2019 for almost $900 started going out today. Horizontal lines across the screen is evidently a common issue with them (bad or melted cable inside). Makes it hard to recommend them when they go bad this fast.

If you don't consider variable refresh rate, and just lock your monitor to 240 Hz, while gaming at 90-160 fps, wouldn't the normal overdrive lead to the calmest image? I realize that there might be done micro stutter as the panel refresh and gpu output aren't synced, but at 4 ms, will it even be noticeable?

I’ve heard KOORUI monitors have really bad ghosting. Not sure if it’s true since I’ve never seen it myself, but all their monitors are $100-150 cheaper than most monitors from other brands. I guess you get what you pay for

I don't have any tool to measure it's performance but i didn't noticed any ghosting and it looked awsome in terms of colours and contrast

Bought a AW2723DF recently for £320. Dell had a sale on and you could stack a student discount (all hail part time courses) 280hz 1440p. "HDR" as always can be ignored. Not the greatest contrast and some slight light bleed. The usual IPS glow. Honestly at full price, £540, this would have been returned but for £320 and the fact I work from home and needed a monitor, I can put up with it.

Though I don’t know if any new good options have been released, if there has been I would love to see some reviews of MiniLed monitors I do quite a bit of productive work such as coding with static UI so OLED is a no go for me, but for when I have a time for a nice gaming session, or watch a movie good visuals are more important to me than refresh rate and latency so MiniLed monitor would be the best option for me (i think) I also play more single-player games than competitive as of late so that might also be affecting my preference Thank you for these reviews, and good work!

Tim has reviewed the Cooler Master Tempest MiniLED monitors, but yeah, I agree. Availability in Australia might be a problem, although you'd think some of the Asian models would be on offer. Maybe the lack of availability in other markets makes it not worth it? I'd love to see a review of the AOC AG274QXM f.ex

Samsung Neo G7 seemed to be decent, and AOC also made some mini LED displays that idk much about. Otherwise, most of those displays are professional ones that generally are 60hz and very colour accurate.

my recent experiences are that monitors dont last long at all. dead pixels or pixel lines after just a few years are starting to be common for some reason

also don't forget that oled is a no go for productive work, like coding, excel files, mailing. Low texture clearity and burn in is too high of a drawback

really? I never ever had a monitor die on me or have dead pixels. In our office, we jsut swapped a dozen of FullHd screens to upgrade for 4K and ultrawides, but none of them wherre defective. those were donated. I still use 10+ FullHd IPS monitors myself. Same with TVs@@SweatyFeetGirl

IMO MSI solely for ergonomics. It seems nearly all LG monitors I tried won't allow you to go down all the way to the bottom of the height scale.

349 with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports seems like a good price but I think display port 1.4 would be just fine.

DP 1.4 can do 1440p 240 FPS at 10 bit without compression but HDMI 2.0 can't so 2.1 can be useful in certain situations.

@@valentinvas6454 240 Hz 8b (24.6 Gb/s) almost maxes out DP 1.4 (25.9 Gb/s). 240 Hz 10b (30.8 Gb/s) requires DSC. On this monitor I would prefer HDMI 2.1 (42.0 Gb/s) because you can get away without DSC.

@@cl4ster17 and it works well. I've been using this monitor at 240Hz 1440P for many months now. You can clearly tell the difference. Over HDMI 2.1 my exclusive fullscreen games alt-tab immediately like the old days. Over DP1.4 it's a 5 second wait at least. Avoiding any DSC probably has other advantages too but that one alone keeps me on HDMI.

I am undecided between this one and Odyssey G9 OLED. I know the two are completely different but still I am between this and that. If I get a G9 OLED it has positives like the smart TV features, not just the apps the auto brightness etc. too. Then again I'm afraid it will be too wide for my desk and for gaming in general. I'm not sure if I can use the horizontal space effectively. On the one hand I want an OLED soooo bad, on the other hand I want an ordinary 16:9 IPS monitor. I'd get a 16:9 OLED but the price difference isn't that much when comparing it to a 32:9 OLED. I game almost every evening for 3 - 4 hrs and an writing a thesis, usually while I'm at the office so I feel like I'll only use the one I'll buy for gaming. I do play a lot of ETS2 though, so the super ultrawide might be useful.

I got the MSI monitor last October. Kinda regret it. Should of stuck to LG.The port access is just awkward and the control button is also in an awkward location. When using the control button, i find its very unresponsive and i have yo press ot several timess to bring up the menu or port selection option. Will buy the 240HZ LG as my main gaming monitor.
