I went to Oros Athos last year in Greece. A monk there told me that two paths exist for a Christian man. You either become a monk or you get married and have a family. Another important thing in regards to finding the perfect wife, he told me that, "marriage is martyrdom".

Lots of wisdom here. I’m not a Catholic but Protestant, but I must say, men need to hear how the right answers are always found within Scripture. “In all ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path”

Mad Respect for Elliot been a follower of him a decade minimum ,and watching his evolution from complete atheist, new age/spiritualist to full Christian that follows the Christian principles and even reading a Orthodox bible and researching on Orthodox Christianity seriously it didn’t happened by accident it is a miracle, God showed up in his life purposely he was a "Chosen One" like all of us who didn’t realize all these years.. Respect to you Elliot keep doing what you’re doing Brave soldier/follower of Christ ,God’s plan has been deployed for you.

Thank you for this Elliott, this video is on perfect timing. My girlfriend and I broke up. Our relationship lasted for 5 years and the reason for our break up is Religion. She is a Born Again and since I revert to Catholicism we argued all the time about Faith and the Church. This video is God reminding me that he is in control on everything and I need to trust on his plans. God bless you Elliott and your Family. Much love from Philippines.❤

You can have whatever you want, neither is a sin neither is a higher path , delight in the Lord the Bible says and He will grant your desires there’s nothing wrong or superior about either path, it’s just one path leads directly to God realization, Christ’s path, and one is just another spiritual path, all rivers lead to the ocean at the end of the day.

I am 22 years old. I don’t have a problem with waiting until marriage. It’s just so hard to struggle with lust and temptation. Back in Jesus’ day, men would get married a lot earlier, and women were more submissive. Nowadays trying to find a good Christian woman and get married seems near impossible. So I might be single for a while, but I will try to make it through for God. I became a Christian recently, and before I was saved, I had premarital sex with multiple women and was consumed with lust. I still struggle with lust, but I try not to act on those desires. Porn is the hardest thing to overcome though, and I truly believe it is something sent by Satan straight from the pits of hell. I just hope that I can fully overcome lust.

Why not just masturbate to porn so you can enter into post nut clarity immediately and have a clearer mind for serving the Lord? The alternative is being consumed by lust 24/7.

Surah Al Hadid (The Iron) 57:25. We sent aforetime our messengers with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, Unseen, Him and His messengers: For Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will). 57:26. And We sent Noah and Abraham, and established in their line Prophethood and Revelation: and some of them were on right guidance. But many of them became rebellious transgressors. 57:27. Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors. 57:28. O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 57:29. That the People of the Book may know that they have no power whatever over the Grace of Allah, that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand, to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. For Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding. Yusif Ali Translation.

Elliot thank you for this video. I have been so torn in thinking “will I be a celibate and live entirely for God or will I marry?”. I do not want to disappoint my parents by taking monkhood, and having children would be a nice thing, but staying focused on God is a difficult task as a married man. I know not what God wants, and this question has been tearing me apart.

@@eveliinatistelgren172 a complete celibate will never marry, have children, or have any sexual relations nor masturbation. Monks take vows of celibacy when they renounce worldly life and live in a monastery. At the same time, one can practice celibacy even as a married householder by observing periods of voluntary abstinence, or having sex only for the purpose of begetting children

In that day they were experiencing immense persecution and were even expecting the end of days etc. The problem happens now today when Paul says it's better to get married than burn with passion but the church and state has literally banned marriage for the most part until 18. This leads many automatically into seeking boyfriends and girlfriends and premarital sex simply because marriage was not even an option. This is however a tradition of our modern times. Banning marriage before the age of 18 is not only un-biblical, but it is akin to what Paul says is a doctrine of Demons, and a seducing sprit. If we step back from modern history people were getting married younger and just this one fact alone solves a miriad of issues that we see happening today in modern society.

Hi Elliot, you mentioned that you don't believe in private interpretation of the bible, and I agree to a point- that if we are not part of a church community where we share what we read and analyse and draw away the most accurate stuff together, we could miss out on an even better interpretation or as you read from the saints. But also the bible says that there is only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus(1 Timothy2: 5-7), so I think we should all study the bible for ourselves also and connect to God individually and we don't have to depend on other people do read and study it, we don't need other mediators... God bless you! Thank you for your useful content, I agree with pretty much everything you say. :)

the idea that monkhood>marriage is extra prophetic and what I mean is none of the prophets of god took this path. From Abraham to Zachariah, somehow Paul who came after all of them and who is himself not a prophet decided that not marrying is better? All I know is if im asked who to follow, id follow the teachings of the prophets and what they did in their lives not Paul, when Jesus returns he will himself take a wife and thats all you need to know regarding this matter so get married asap to avoid sin.

the fact that marriage produces children and creates new life should at least put it even with monk, I would think. Even though preaching god's word as a celibate man is such a good thing, what better expression of god's love and power than to create and raise children in his image to go and spread the word further?

This is Paul's perspective, which is different from the many other perspectives, teachings and mentions of marriage all throughout the Bible by others. His view was biased toward the path that he had chosen. Obviously, if everyone was "as he was" as he wished, there would be no people alive today, and that is not God's design. Jesus said a man should leave his father and mother's house and go with his wife (no other options given there on what a man should do with his life by the way) Everyone in the Bible, aside from God and Jesus are men and woman and are fallible. The Bible is infallible as it is exactly what God intended for us to read, but he only infallible characters in the Bible are not humans. Aside from that, It's fine and good to study bishops and other men that have written about the Bible, but holding their interpretation and views anywhere near the level of the Bible itself is incredibly foolish, heresy, and a sin according to the Bible.

Women are such a pain in the ass. i can relate by saying not chasing women, not forcing things, is the way to go. If my life was dedicated to following and chasing women, i'd be in mad trouble. Girlfriends, women, marriage, is kind of miscellaneous in the pursuit of life. You almost cannot force it.

Lol, ‘don’t sin, but you may’. Celibacy eliminates the possibility for hell in the non existent next generation, so isn’t that most moral? But this god wants people to multiply, so isn’t he responsible for hell?

the "bible". the most taken out of context, mistranslated and misinterpreted book that ever was. the reality of the matter regarding marriage is that this union between a man and a woman, is not of a western mindset or concept. nor is it associated to christian culture. marriage is of the ancient hebraic/hebrew mindset and culture. marriage in the hebraic mindset and marriage in the christian mindset are two totally mindsets. they are not the same. the thing that is missing from the christian perspective is the torah which according to Psalm 119:142, is the truth. This is what the so called bible defines truth is. which meanss the torah must be at the foundation of a marriage. but that is not what christians do. they want to say the bible is the foundation but lack the torah. and since the most high says in malachi 3:6 that he does not change, and if it says in jeremiah 6:16 that to seek the ancient paths that it may be well with you. this means the torah according to the most high, is the foundation of a marriage. and nowhere does it say in the scriptures that a man and wife must have a state sponsored marriage license which means that the govt can have control of a marriage. no wonder why many marriages fail and end up in a divorce is cos the torah is not at the center of a marriage. not to mention that according to torah, a woman can not divorce a man. mind you that marriage is not a western culture/christian concept.
