To an extent. Your Husband should be honorable as a husband. For example, in Titus after Paul explained how a woman is to love her husband he wrote " and ye men likewise". That said a Godly woman should not marry a dishonorable man and Godly men likewise. This is where a good mother and father come in. A Godly man and woman are going to raise Godly sons and daughters.

@gobigandgohomeschool4882, I find that when women accuse their man of being a narcissist, it's usually because he doesn't bow to her every demand and he fails to read her mind or meet all of her arbitrary, emotionally subjective, and ever-changing expectations of him that she failed to communicate. And when the man finally stands up for himself because he's sick of her psychological tactics and mental abuse, he is labeled the abuser. So if you're actually in a relationship with an actually abusive man, then why did you marry him in the first place? You could have avoided the entire situation. But you didn't.

It's fine when it's a joke, but it's like taking it as a joke too long and people literally think it's the truth. If you ask me, men are the ones more complicated. A woman only wants to be loved and be secure in her place unless you went looking for some lunatic. Tell your wife you love her, every so often, plan time to spend with and communicate, recognize her on some special days, if your the gifting type, well get her gifts once in a while, if not write a note , or make something silly. I think it also has to do with what a woman is called to do. My sister was called to the ministry as a teenager. She was able to be a stay at home mom when her kids were small. When they were older elementary she started interning at the church and going to school. She was a working mom but was also close to her kids because our church is across the street from their school. She has served in children’s ministry for over 15 years now and has just started a preteens ministry at church 2 years ago and it’s been extremely successful and impactful in the lives of these kids. So I think it can depend on where The Lord calls you.

@QuietlyContemplating first, we are going to act like a more detailed description of an honorable wife in Proverbs 31, doesn't exist in the Bible. We are also going to pretend, that we literally read each verse in the Bible separately, without other instances and verses for context. Is that what you're suggesting? By the way, do you apply the same standard to everything in the Bible? The short verse didn't say to do A but because it says do B, then you can only ever do B because somehow doing A has to be wrong or some sin. So are you suggesting that every single action we may do is precisely described in the Bible and if it's not expressly spelled out to do so, then we may not do so? So, the Bible does say we should waste time in gossip and unending reasoning, but here we are on KZbin and you're engaged in what is a worthless discussion. How is that action covered in the Bible? Now, using you example of employer and employee. So, since I've worked before, I literally know what it takes to be an employee, and just because your job title and description highlights some tasks, no reasonable employer expects you literally think you can only act exactly per described duties. Also, employees go home and their lives include all sorts of interests and activities. So, the example makes no sense...we are not robot machines automated for a single task. There are things highlighted as honorable to do, that doesn't mean do that only and only alone.

I have been in thought over the past week about some dissatisfaction I am experiencing within my marriage and God has literally spoke EVERY POINT you mentioned to me at one time or another. You gave a very thorough overview. I've been married a long time and have always struggled with honoring my husband when he doesn't seem to deserve it. You struck a chord by saying that wives should honor husbands not because they deserve it, but because wives should be honorable and behave as God expects a wife to behave. It will help me to see myself as his crown, as you pointed out from Proverbs.

If you want to stay home, do so. Who told you having a job is competing with your husband? Sorry, but to have a mindset that because a lady has a job, it's some kind of competition, is something from a sick mind and anyone interested in making young people healthy, should also address that.

@ugrastan she is expressing her mind on a public forum, and so it'll get responded to. Expressions of bad ideas left unchallenged end up hurting people because there are a good number of people who will think it's legitimate. Imagine the nonsense claiming a job is competing with a husband. I guess my mom should have let us all die of hunger because she should have stayed jobless? What about the sahms I know looking for jobs now because they need to assist their families? Are they also competing with their husbands? And yes! It's a sick concept that having a job is competing with your husband. And I just have to start drawing out implications.

Hi Lana, I’m a new subscriber and I am a Catholic wife and mother. The best way I have found to explain submission is to fully understand the meaning- so ‘sub’ = under, so ‘under’ the mission of your husband. The husband’s mission? To get his wife and children to heaven, to protect and care for his wife, to be willing to die for her as Christ died for His Church. I’m guessing all wives want that! ❤

Please learn about how Catholicism and how it is contrary to Biblical Christianity, in order to be saved, you must be born again! God bless!

No human can get anyone else to Heaven . But, I think what you are meaning is that the father should see to it that God is central to earthly life. A father sets the example of being faithful and raising his children to do the same.

We agreed, at the beginning of our marriage, that I would stay at home. This was a newer concept for my husband. We did not have support from his parents so there was a lot of pressure. There were many times it was financially challenging. But I NEVER regret it. I chose motherhood in earnest as our two children arrived. I made many mistakes but also prayed many times for wisdom. God provided miracles to provide for us that encourages me to this day. He is present! Now as my children are adults and the oldest has chosen to put aside the Christian belief we have, I continue to pray that God would speak to him and change his heart. Motherhood doesn't stop when your children grow up, it just requires different actions. Now as we enter retirement we continue to live off of the remains of our one income, we know there will be challenges. We continue to live in relationship that mutually is respectful of each other as God has encouraged. My son has commented on this when he sees many relationships are failing around him and ours continues to hold and be a work in progress. I have felt very blessed by God and am thankful I've trusted Him even when it has felt very hard and challenging at times. I have undoubtedly experienced Him in our marriage and the raising of our family. God is faithful.

It's sad for some women to think that being a stay home mom is oppression. To think that raising your own kids is less of a success than chasing the bag is appalling. Life is precious, and raising the future generations well is more than money. Money is good but your children's upbringing is way more than that. Keep up the good work. We need more wives and husbands talking on the subject of marriage than single people.
@kennethfok10 ай бұрын
It is very stressful for many modern women to stay at home due to the ever rising cost of living. But I don’t deny that being a stay at home mum is a very noble job. For as long as one can afford it, or rather if the husband thinks he’s financially ok in supporting the family alone, I don’t see why the wife should not stay at home. To conceive a child is already very laborious, especially during the birth process so why should women add on more stress from work to their life?
@blahblah412910 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly. A lot of people get married for the wrong reasons. Once a couple has a child/children, priorities SHOULD evolve. With the right/God-fearing man, everything is easy. With the polar opposite, everything is hard.

I love how you explained the role of a wife in submitting to her husband: not because he is better than she is, but because it encourages him to become a leader. I believe it also helps the wife to develop meekness and become like Jesus Christ, who, as you said, submits to the Father. Of course, if a husband is abusive, then a wife should protect herself and her children by getting away. But if he is not abusive, the effect of a submissive wife, while knowing how capable and intelligent she is, I think encourages him to reciprocate that respect and honor her and love her.
